Ronald Rawlins Obituary

Ronald Milton Rawlins passed away at his home, Feb. 22, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter.
Ronald was born May 8, 1927, in Pocatello, to Milton Rawlins and Rosetta Higginson, and grew up in Nampa.
After his high school graduation, he served in the US Army Air Corps as a weather observer. After his service was completed, he returned home and really enjoyed his time working on the railroad.
Using the well-earned GI Bill, Ron graduated from Idaho State University's School of Pharmacy.
On Sept. 2, 1951, Ron married his dear companion, Betty Harris. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on July 25, 1963.
Ron's professional life was as a pharmacist. He especially enjoyed and was very proud to have opened the first-ever pharmacy located inside an Albertson's store. This store was in Billings, Mont.
As a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he enjoyed his service as a ward clerk. In addition he especially loved his associations with many people while serving eight years as a Boise Temple worker.
The Church's sports programs were a favorite time for him – as he participated in softball and basketball.
He will be missed by his loving family.
He is survived by: his devoted wife; his three sisters, Peggy Schaefer (Forrest, deceased) Riverside, Calif.; Sue Fly (Johnny) Nampa, and Kathleen Wheatley (Robert) Aiken, South Carolina; his four children, Rhonda Beck (Rod) Boise; Lynda Berg (Dallas) Boise; Terry Hazen (Geri) Boise, and Tina Foster, Lehi, Utah; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m., in the LDS chapel located at 6711 W. Northview, Boise. The family may be greeted in the Relief Society room, prior to the services at the church, from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
Interment will be at 12:30 p.m. at Dry Creek Cemetery, 9600 Hill Road, Boise.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to physicians and nurses at St. Alphonsus Hospital, and especially to the wonderful people at Life's Doors Hospice.

I have great memories of my Great Uncle Ronald! I will never forget going over to his and Aunt Betty's home and playing in their playhouse with their granddaughter my age, Mackenzie. Uncle Ronald was such a kind man who always had a smile on his face!

My loving and happy Uncle Ronald will forever be in my heart! He never missed an opportunity to support my family in any of our endeavors! I have many treasured memories of visiting Aunt Betty and Uncle Ronald, who are like second parents to me. I'm so thankful for "forever families". Until we meet again, I love you!

Rawlins Family,

I am deeply sorry for your loss. I will always cherish the memories of growing up living behind Ron and Betz and the fresh veggies from their garden. They have always been a great example to me throughout my life.

We love you, Grandpa Rawlins. Thank you for always being so kind to all of our family. Paris loved you like you were her very own grandfather as she never got to know either one of hers. May God bless and keep the family throughout this difficult time. We love you all.
