Brent Anderson Obituary

Brent Wallace Anderson, 82, of McCammon, Idaho, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025. He was born June 9, 1943, in Blackfoot, Idaho, the second of nine children born to Wallace Owen and Vivian (Darrington) Anderson. He grew up in the Riverside/Thomas area and graduated from Snake River High School in 1961.

Brent served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eastern Central States Mission, including Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia. After his mission, he attended both Ricks College and Brigham Young University, and later on Idaho State University. He also served in the Idaho Army National Guard Corps of Engineers and was activated for a tour of duty in Vietnam. Upon returning home, Brent resumed his studies at BYU while working as a ranch foreman at Sundance Mountain Resort for Robert Redford.

Following the end of his first marriage, Brent returned to Idaho and went to work for his Uncle Russell as a heavy equipment operator-a trade he learned as a boy and continued for the rest of his life. He was exceptional at his work and truly loved what he did.

While working in Idaho, Brent was introduced to Laurel Harris by his brother Kurt and Kurt's wife, Melba. Brent and Laurel were married the following year and shared nearly 49 years of marriage. Together they raised four children: Aaron, Laurel's son from a previous marriage, Lindsay, Kurt, and Michael.

Brent was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings, including as a counselor in the bishopric, a Sunday School teacher, and a member of the high council. In addition to his church service, Brent also served his community as a member of the Marsh Valley school board.

Brent earned his pilot's license and, along with his brother, owned an airplane. The two enjoyed flying recreationally together for many years. He loved music and took any opportunity he could to play the piano, organ, and guitar. Brent also loved going to the temple, working on family history, traveling, fishing, and tending his garden and orchard alongside his son Kurt. One of his greatest joys was sharing the harvest with friends and family.

Above all, Brent loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and son, who cherished time together and delighted in sharing stories and experiences with those around him.

Brent is survived by his wife, Laurel Anderson; his children: Aaron Hemsley (Amy) of Inkom, Idaho; Lindsay Fuhriman (Jared) of Eagle, Idaho; Kurt Anderson (Kathy) of Chubbuck, Idaho; and Michael Anderson (Jenilee) of Star, Idaho; 15 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Darold Anderson (Luana) of Mesa, Arizona, and Dale Anderson (Marianne) of Provo, Utah; and three sisters: Janice Fitzgerald (Terry) of Shelley, Idaho; Lana Burkman of Blackfoot, Idaho; and Periann A. Archibald of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Vivian Anderson, three brothers: Kurt, Steven, and Kelly Anderson, and a brother-in-law, George Martin.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 22, 2025, at 12:00 noon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 403 W. 16th Street, McCammon, Idaho. A viewing will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will follow at Norton Cemetery in McCammon.
