Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend Sherri Tolman Barger, 68, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 19, 1957, in Logan, Utah, the daughter of James Russell and Harriett LaRue Barney Tolman. She graduated from Bonneville High School, Associates degree from Ricks College and with a Bachelors in Business Administration from Colorado Technical University. She started her career at the LDS Church Offices and worked in Human Resources for Intermountain Health for many years.
Sherri married James Richard Barger on September 26, 1986, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were married for 40 wonderful years and loved nothing more than to have her family together and spend time with her grandchildren Cassian and William. Being a mother and being a grandmother brought her the most joy in life.
Sherri was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings, but her favorite one was Relief Society President, getting to know and serve her fellow sisters.
When Sherri wasn’t spending time enjoying her family playing cards and games, or watching a movie, you would find her crocheting, sewing, coloring or making diamond art. She grew to become a dog lover in her later years after putting up with them her whole married life.
Sherri is survived by her husband, James Richard Barger; children, Heather Anne Amann (Trent Amann), Kasie Marie Barger, and Travis James Barger (Savannah Tollefson); grandchildren, Cassian and William Tollefson-Barger; her brother, Duane Tolman (Paulette Tolman); sisters, Joyce Flint, and Joann Coprich (Clarence Coprich); and sister’s-in-law, Karen Tolman and Lila Tolman. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Max, Stanley, and Thomas Tolman and brother-in-law Kevin Flint.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Harrisville 8th Ward, 113 North Childs Ave. Friends may visit with family Friday from 9:00 to 10:30 at the church prior to the service. Interment, Syracuse Cemetery. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary.
