Buckley Henry Blackhawk

FORT HALL - Buckley Henry BlackHawk, 60, beloved father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully in the Massacre Rocks area on December 22, 2009, with his daughters by his side. 
Buck was born in Blackfoot, Idaho, on September 29, 1949, to Romanzetta Baker and McMillan BlackHawk. He married Anita Bosquez in November 1978. They were divorced 18 years later. Anita stayed by his side throughout his illness. She was his companion, caregiver, spokesperson, and chauffeur. 
Buck was a lifelong resident of Fort Hall and was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic for the U.S. D.O.I Bureau of Indian Affairs. He retired after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes and was a Sundancer. He enjoyed the company of his grandchildren the most. He liked going to the casino, hunting, fishing and raising cattle. When he was in good health, he loved riding his Harley and was a member of the Empties Motorcycle Club. 
Buck is survived by his daughters, Denise BlackHawk (Michael Yazzie), Teresa BlackHawk (Anthony Crosland), Jodi BlackHawk, and a stepdaughter, Louisa (Sergio) Arellano; grandchildren, D'Angelo BlackHawk, Niyomi and Nivea Oliva, Marcos BlackHawk-Yazzie, Caleb BlackHawk, Tia and Chloe BlackHawk; stepgrandchildren, Tyler Bosquez, Tatiana, Juan (Bubba), Carla, Aracelly Arellano. 
He is also survived by his identical twin brother, Antone Dokes DeCola (Mary); brother, McDonald BlackHawk; sister, Gina (John) Whitworth; cousin, David Baker Sr.; and an aunt, Clarice Villa; nephews, Quentin, Lee, Sgt. Warlance Baker-Cruz, Alex Baker, Michael and Robert Pongah, Cody BlackHawk, Michael Whitworth, Eric Hernandez, Ricky and Max Sanchez, Del Edmo, and Harrison Villa; nieces, Shawna and Brandy DeCola, Olivia and Erica Broncho, Linda and Lydia Hernandez, Maria Villa, and Paula TopSky. 
Buck was preceded in death by a grandson, Beau Henry Joseph BlackHawk; mother, Romanzetta Sheppard; father, McMillan BlackHawk; brother, Rodney BlackHawk; sister, Jackie BlackHawk; grandmothers, Pauline Broncho, Edna Chinjay; great-grandmother, Birdie BlackHawk Calico; grandfathers, Harrison Baker and Henry BlackHawk; nephews, David Baker Jr., Max Galloway, and Michael Sheppard. 
Dad, we will all miss you. You put up a good fight to stay here with us. The things you taught your grandchildren will never be forgotten. Your company and guidance will be greatly missed. We love you so much. 
Traditional services began on on Thursday, December 24, 2009, and continued to Saturday, December 26, 2009. Services were held at the BlackHawk residence on Sheepskin and Bench roads. Burial was Saturday, December 26, 2009, at Cedars Cemetery.
