David Shrum Obituary

David Shrum 
POCATELLO - David Freeman Shrum, 87, Pocatello, died peacefully following brief health issues, Monday morning, May 21, 2012.
He was born December 23, 1924, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, to Jane Syme Shrum and Dowl Bunny Shrum.
David married his Glenns Ferry high school sweetheart, Katharine Petersen, on May 7, 1945. They recently celebrated their 67th anniversary.
He served in the United States Army Corps during World War II in Europe as a B-17 arterial gunner. David was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1986 following 42 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, friends and family. He was loved very much and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, at home; son, Bill Shrum (Vicki) of Jackson Hole, Wyoming; daughters, Diane Austin (Bob) of Rathdrum, Idaho, Susan Watanabe (Addison) of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Kelli Hawkins of Spokane Valley, Washington, Jaime Mason of Rathdrum, Idaho, Jennen Morris of Tempe, Arizona, Tyler Shrum of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Sakae Watanabe of Las Vegas, Nevada; and 4.5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dowl Bunny Shrum and James Oscar Shrum.
Graveside services will be held Friday, May 25, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the Glenns Rest Cemetery, Glenns Ferry, Idaho, with military graveside rites. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Cornelison Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello.

Thinking of my Uncle Dave this morning....missing him but joyful in the knowledge that Heaven is full of our Shrum family who have been celebrating his arrival and their reunion. My Uncles, My dear Daddy, Grandma and Grandpa together as a reunited family. The Angels have been dancing I just know it!

My Love goes out to the whole family. Dave can now be with Dad and Uncle Jim. Although i didn't speak to him as often as i should have we will sorely miss him. i have so many fond memories of all the times we spent together. My Love goes out to all of you Aunt Kathryn, Diane, Susan and Bill. We all Love you.
