My life changed in such a profound way the night I found out my dad passed away. Little did I realize just what an impact he truly had on my life. We take for granted the loved ones that are around us, until they are taken away so quickly. I am thankful that several years ago for Father's Day I wrote a letter to my dad telling him how wonderful he was, how much I loved him and how proud I was to have him as my dad. He told me this letter made him cry. How thankful I am that I let him know how I felt then, and everytime I told him "goodbye". My world has changed since April 18 and I am still reeling from the reality of this all. But my faith carries me on with the knowledge that one day I will be reunited with my dad and son and other loved ones for eternity. I am thankful for this. I love you forever dad!

My Dad was a great and loving man and I will miss him everyday for the rest of my life! I wish that I could have been closer in distance so that I could have seen him more often. My family and I would like to thank everyone for their kind and sympathetic remarks and everything that they have done for my family during this difficult time in our life. Dad's spirit and love for all of us, which he always displayed, will be the strength which will enable us to move through this difficult time in our lives. Dad always let me know when I told him that I wished I could be closer to him and mom, that he understood that my family is who I had to take care of. He always told me to be careful and that he always was worried but knew I was happy being a police officer. Dad I love and miss you, and I will see you again one day in heaven. You are my hero and I just hope to touch as many peoples' lives as you did.

My brother-in-law "Uncle Dave" was a friend and fun to be around. We all have at least one Uncle Dave story to tell about him. I'll always remember plowing a garden spot in the back yard of Pat & Dave's last Pocatello home, and stalling the tractor out when I plowed into a natural gas line that no one knew was there. He stopped me before I did more damage and uncovered the potentially hazardous obstruction. Many of us have been the receipients of his skills and talents including flooring installations from tile to carpet and woodworking projects such as furniture restoration and new construction. We still have and use the enclosed hanging candle lantern he built for us and others. His wide range of interests and talents made him a pleasure to visit with including fishing, golfing, gardening and cooking. His sudden departure leaves an empty spot in our lives and saddness that he didn't get more time with us that he deserved and we would have enjoyed having. God bless you Uncle Dave from our family - Pat, Valorie, Jason and Alison - and all the Ropers.

I will miss Dave; many years ago when I would visit he and I were the only ones up early and we had our early chats. He had a wonderful garden, and that mustache. Even though it has been years since I have seen him he has always been in my thoughts and I remember the fun times we all had. To Pat, Liz, Dan, John and David, I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. Love Paula
