Ila Kathy Kunz, 68, of Moreland, Idaho was taken to her heavenly home by angels on Thursday, August 14, 2014 after a valiant fight with cancer surrounded by her loving family at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Kathy was born October 30, 1945 to Charles Skinner and Ila Mae Cummins. She was raised in Lava Hot Springs and attended elementary school there and then attended North Gem High School in Bancroft.
On June 6, 1964 Kathleen married Thayne Kunz in Bancroft. Following their marriage they made their home in Blackfoot
Kathy had her own upholstery shop for a while, worked at B&J Market in Moreland, at the Riverside Greenhouse, at Jim Ed's Pawn Shop and at Walmart. In her free time she enjoyed gardening and planting flowers, fishing, camping, picking huckleberries, going to yard sales, and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an excellent seamstress and had made many quilts and blankets for her kids and grandkids. She loved playing cards and other games with family and friends when ever they got together. Kathy was an avid race car fan, whether on a dirt track or paved, most memorable was her trip to the Dayton 500. She never turned a stray, two legged or four legged, away.
Kathy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She also was part of the Ladies Auxiliary of Pocatello Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union #648.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Thayne of Moreland; son, Jason (Evelyn) Kunz of Blackfoot; daughters, Leah Kunz Ailor and Collette (Marlin) Herrick both of Blackfoot; brother, Ellis Skinner of Boise; sister, Sherry Crisp of San Diego, California; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren with one on the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Max C. Skinner.
Kathy had a wonderful soul and will be missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot. Family will meet meet with friends and relatives from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014 and for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
