Jeffrey Powell Obituary

Jeffrey Neal Powell, 56, of Blackfoot, passed away in the same home he was raised in, on Thursday, June 20, 2024. He was born on October 30, 1967, in Boise, ID. He was adopted by Neal Kay and Diane Bivens Powell when he was one week old. He spent his childhood at the family home on Tanner Lane. This was a place his soul was grateful to be a part of. He took pride in knowing that he was part of a family of generations who had lived there before him and may live thereafter. He loved growing up around horses and cattle, skiing, and going on memorable family vacations.

In his mid-twenties, Jeff found himself in a pretty deep hole in life. It took an inspirational amount of strength, commitment, and follow-through to make his way out of it, but he did! For the last three decades of his life, he created purpose from the pain of previous addictions. He had a heart for service and freely shared his story and wisdom as a mentor and friend to those making their way through similar places. His desire to joyfully connect and be present was unmatched. He had a gift for considering others, taking note of their preferences, giving the perfect, simple gift, making tuned-in gestures, and doing small things in special ways. His grandchildren were the light of his life and were the recipients of his undivided attention and care. He was a hard worker and was employed as a truck driver for 32 years. Jeff loved fishing, heavy metal, fireworks, going to concerts, the Denver Broncos, and time with his "people". Above all, Jeff was generous and kind.

On October 27, 2001, Jeff married RaeJean Stedtfeld in Blackfoot, ID. In 2007, they moved into the family home, and he spent the rest of his life there. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, RaeJean of 22 years; stepdaughters, Jerdanna (Shaun) Bird of Pocatello and Kaydon (Karen) McCann of Lewiston; mother, Diane Bivens Powell (Nick Anderson) of Boise; siblings, Kay Marie Powell of Pocatello and Timothy "Gus" (Amy) Powell of Meridian; three grandchildren, Harrison, Grant and Logan Bird; nephews and niece, Jacob and Joseph Snapp and Jackson and Mya Powell, along with Simiron (Amber) Haggard and Velvet Haggard, whom he loved as his own. Jeff was preceded in death by his father.

A "Celebration of Life" will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the Airport Park Pavilion in Blackfoot. Per Jeff's wishes, the family will host a BBQ to spend time together like they would if he were there. The family would like everyone who knew and loved Jeff to come have fun and bring pictures and memories to share. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made by paying it forward to a person or group who stands out to you. Condolences may be sent to the family online at [email protected].
