June Nyman Obituary

June Nyman
June 6, 1925 - June 14, 2014
June Nyman, age 89, of Pocatello, Idaho died Saturday afternoon June 14, 2014 from Pneumonia at the Portneuf Medical Center. June was born on June 6, 1925 to Ernest and Florence Prestwich in Hinckley, Utah. She was raised on a farm in Firth, Idaho until she left for nursing school. She attended nursing school at the Old General Hospital from 1943 through 1946. She practiced as a Registered Nurse from 1946 to 1969 in Obstetrics and the Nursery. She retired in 1969 to take care of her three daughters. Diane, Debe and Vickie followed their mother in the profession of a nursing. June loved her family and her pets as there was never an animal she turned away from her home. June's favorite hobby was reading, yet she spent time helping the Red Cross, her neighbors and any abandoned pet. She worked on the cancer and the heart associations as well as numerous other medical financial fund raising programs.
June is survived by her daughter, Diane of Pocatello; and her brother, Vendell of Basalt, Idaho. She had five brothers and one sister. June was preceded in death by her soul-mate, Dale Nyman; her brothers, Orville, Glenn, Warren, and Ray Prestwich; a sister, Leah Hofine; her daughters, Vickie and Debbie; and her niece Ashlee Victoria Wellard.
Friends who wish may make donation in June's memory to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Downard Funeral Home, 241 North Garfield Ave., Pocatello, Idaho. No public services are currently being planned.
