Lucille Kennedy Obituary

Lucille J. Kennedy
SODA SPRINGS - Lucille Joyce Longenbohn Bitton Kennedy, 81, of Soda Springs, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012, at the Caribou Memorial Hospital.
Lucille was born October 5, 1930, in Niter, Idaho, to Leroy Anton and Myrta Emma Sorensen Longenbohn. She was the fourth child in a family of seven children, two older brothers, Leroy and Don, one sister, Lorene, and three younger sisters, Marian, Barbara and Kay Lynn.
Lucille was raised on the family farm in Niter. She enjoyed spending time with her siblings. They always had fun working together, teasing one another, and playing pranks like bringing snakes into the kitchen to scare their mother. Lucille was educated in Grace and graduated from Grace High School.
On June 22, 1948, Lucille married Louis B. Bitton Jr., at Niter, Idaho. They made their home on the Bitton Ranch in Lago, Idaho. Lucille and Junior were blessed with three sons, Alan Louis, Louis Kay and Kevin LeRoy. They were later divorced.
Lucille worked as a secretary for different businesses, spending several years at Beker Industries and finishing her working career at Paramont Supply Co., in Soda Springs.
On December 17, 1982, Lucille married Loran William Kennedy in Pocatello, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Lucille and Loran enjoyed traveling. They made many new friends as they traveled to Hawaii, Mexico and then to Quartzite, Arizona, during the winter. They were blessed to have 28 years together before Loran's passing in February 2011.
Lucille was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and Loran had the opportunity to serve as temple workers in the Logan Temple. She loved music, playing the piano, organ and keyboard and she enjoyed singing in the choir and in trios.
When Lucille became a grandmother, she became known as Grandma Lucy. Her grandchildren adored her and she loved them dearly. She and Loran attended many of their grandkids sporting events and supported them in all their activities.
Lucille had a special love for cats, too. Throughout her life she always had a cat as a pet to spoil. Her cat, Sapphire, was her constant companion while at Spring Creek Living Center.
Lucille is survived by two sons, Louis Kay and Suzie Bitton, Kevin LeRoy and Julie Bitton; one stepdaughter, Sandra Lee and J.R. Maughan; three stepsons, Stanley Andrew and Deborah Talik, John William and Kristine Kennedy, and Michael Stuart and Emily Kennedy. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren; one brother, LeRoy Longenbohn; and two sisters, Marian Greenslade and Barbara Morrison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loran Kennedy, one son, Alan Louis Bitton, two sisters, Lorene Harwood and Kay Lynn Ayers, one brother, Don Longenbohn.
Services will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012 at noon at the Bailey Creek Chapel (361 South Third East). The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home and on Friday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Grace Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on line at www.simsfh.com.
