Micheal Myler Obituary

Micheal "Mike" Roy Myler, 54, of Moreland, Idaho returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father, on Thursday, September 14, 2023.

Mike was born May 16, 1969 to Gordon Leslie Myler and Jackie Hadley Myler in Downey, Idaho. He attended school at Marsh Valley High School where he played football and participated in track. He graduated in 1987.

Mike gained a love of hard work while working on the Downata Ranch with his Dad and brother, and as a lifeguard at Downata Hot Springs. Following high school, he worked at the Ash Grove Cement Plant in Inkom, Idaho, as well as the gold mines in Winnemucca, Nevada. Mike attended Idaho State University where he earned an associates in computer science. He worked at the Idaho National Laboratory for 25 years. Due to his declining health, he retired in 2014.

Mike married the love of his life and eternal companion, Amy Jo Dunn in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple on August 12, 1988. They were high school sweethearts who spent their life going on as many adventures as possible. Mike was a dedicated and loving husband and father. Family was everything to Mike. He and Amy had three children, Heather, Justin, and Colby.

Mike shared his love of the outdoors with his family. Many days were spent in the mountains on horseback, dirt bikes, atvs, and camping. He enjoyed boating, especially slalom skiing and pulling his kids in the tube. In the winter, he loved to ski and ride snow machines. Mike had a deep love of old cars and restoring them.1965 GTO's were his favorite. In recent years, his health prevented him from doing a lot of the activities he loved, then he found a new love for jeeping. He and Amy went on many jeep rides in the mountains together.

Mike was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He had a firm testimony of the gospel. Mike loved to serve everyone. He was always reaching out to others and performing acts of service, often while he was struggling with his own health.

Mike faced trials and challenges diligently and nobally. He struggled with his health for 27 years. He didn't let it hold him back. He still loved and served with all he had. He couldn't be as active as he would have liked, but he never stopped showing up for people and being the rock his family depended on.

Mike is survived by his wife and best friend Amy, and their three children; Heather (Landon) Larsen, Blackfoot, Idaho, Justin (Morgan) Myler, Oak Grove, Oregon, and Colby (Mariah) Myler, Pocatello, Idaho, and his grandson Ashton, two grandchildren on the way, his mother, Jackie Myler, Downey, Idaho, brother Trav (Karla) Myler, Downey, Idaho, and sisters Trish (Jared) Dalling, Hamer, Idaho, and Kate (Jared) Johnson, Swan Valley, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his father Gordon Myler, and his brother Richard Myler.

The Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, September 22. 2023 at the Blackfoot West Stake Center, 101 North 900 West, Blackfoot with Bishop Steve VanOrden of the Snake River 2nd ward conducting. The family will meet with friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. and again on Friday at the church for an hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Moreland Idaho Cemetery.

I worked with Mike up until he left in 2014. He was a very personable and a great individual. I was deeply saddened when he had to leave work, but hoped it would allow him to do all those things he wanted to do. I only found out today 9/22 that he had left us. I want to say I am so very sorry for your loss and sad that I didn't know in time to be at his funeral. I very much appreciated Mike and on several occasions talked with him about old cars, specifically his GTO. He will be missed immensely and I pray for your family in this greatest time of sorrow. God bless you always in my thoughts and prayers. Alan Robb
