Morgan Nye Obituary

Morgan David Nye
POCATELLO - Morgan David Nye, 23, of Pocatello, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2007, after a valiant and courageous fight with cancer.
Morgan was born on May 30, 1983, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is the oldest son of the late Denise Coray Nye, and David and Katre Nye. He lived most of his life in Pocatello, graduating from Pocatello High School in 2001. He attended both Utah State University and Idaho State University.
He is an Eagle Scout and he earned his Duty to God Award. Morgan served a mission for the LDS Church to the Canada-Toronto West Mission for two years.
He was employed by ProLadders Inc., where he worked with his good friends. He loved playing sports, especially basketball as well as computer games. In May of 2006, Morgan was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a bone cancer.
Morgan was admired and loved by his family and friends. He has always been a source of love and kindness, and a great example to all who have known him. His positive influence was particularly strong during his battle with cancer. He never complained, never questioned "why me," he simply acknowledged what was happening with dignity and grace.
Morgan is the oldest of eight children and has been a source of strength and leadership to each of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his father, David; his second mother, Katre; and by his siblings, Jeff, Analyn, Matt, Lindsey, Mason, Lynea, and Tolen. He is also survived by his best friend and the love of his life, Kate Neilsen. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his mother, Denise, who was waiting to welcome him with open arms after his death, and by his grandfathers, Don Coray and LaVerl Johnson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 12, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the Pocatello LDS Stake Center at 655 S. Grant, under the direction of Bishop Doug Chambers, with President Robert Chambers presiding. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call on Morgan's family at Colonial Funeral Home at 2005 S. Fourth Ave. on Thursday night, Jan. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday at the Pocatello Stake Center from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
