Shirley Ryan Obituary
March 26, 1922 - August 13, 2014
Shirley Ryan, age 92, passed away of natural causes at her daughter's home. Honoring her wishes she has been cremated and will be buried with her late husband, George J. Ryan in Pocatello, Idaho.
She was born to Frank E. and Cora Montgomery Ross in Acequia, Idaho. She spent most of her childhood in Aberdeen, Idaho where her father was the manager of the Kraft Cheese Factory.
She attended U of I; then joined the Navy during WWII where she met and married George J. Ryan, December 19, 1944, at Pasco, Washington.
George and Shirley returned with their family to Idaho in 1949. Shirley gradually acquired her teaching degree from ISU. She taught in Pocatello School Dist. 25 from1952 to 1980 in elementary grades and at Alameda Junior High, Arts and Crafts.
Throughout her adult life she enjoyed her family, her "Tabby Cats", arts and crafts, playing her electronic organ, and loved political debating. Shirley and George enjoyed many happy hours playing pinochle with friends. She lived a quiet, private life and will be remembered for her quick wit, humor, and generosity.
Shirley is survived by two of her four brothers, Gerald Ross, and Carroll Ross; daughter, Lynne (Myron) Fullmer; son, James D. Ryan; grand-children, Holly (Stefen) Munford, Lee DiViesti, Netty (Matt) Degarlais, Chris Heimbuck, Mark (Jennifer) Ryan, Loryn Ryan; great grandchildren, Connor, Corbin, and Caden Munford, Kori Marie DiViesti, and Alex Ryan.
