Candida da Silva Obituary

Candida da Silva was born July 20, 1917, she died April 7, 2006, after a brief illness. Born and raised in Georgetown, British Guiana, Candida lived and worked most of her adult life in New York City until her retirement to Orlando and most recently to Boise. Grounded in the love of her mother and her sisters Alma, Pauline and Rita, her life was steeped in a rich and vibrant Catholic faith evidenced in generosity and graciousness; determination, practicality and resilience; wonder and gratitude for all that is kind and beautiful. The lifelong companionship of her sister, Rita Correia, sustained her. Together, selflessly, they raised Candidas three children: Anthony da Silva, Jeanne Webster and Fr. Joseph da Silva. In addition to her children and her sister Rita, Candida has three grandaughters - Alicia da Silva, Jennifer da Silva and Abigail Webster and two nieces - Johnette De Freitas and Gerrianne Richards - who are living. Three of Candidas children died as newborns. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at 7 p.m. at Risen Christ Catholic Community, 11511 Lake Hazel Rd., Boise, Idaho. Many thanks for the care provided by her physician, Dr. Shawn Nowierski and to Patricia Taylor, parish nurse, at Risen Christ. Flowers are discouraged. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Candidas name can be offered to the columbarium fund at Risen Christ. Arrangements are under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home.
