Charles Cartwright Obituary

Charles Junior Cartwright (Charlie) 1932 ~ 2011 Charles Junior Cartwright (Charlie) passed away peacefully at home on the evening of Friday, July 1, 2011. He will be remembered as the most caring, generous, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather anyone could ever be blessed to be in the presence of. Charlie was born October 31, 1932 in York, Nebraska to Charles and Lily Cartwright and moved to Boise when he was 8. He was very active in sports during his Boise High School years. After graduation Charlie joined the navy at the young age of 17 and served aboard the USS Valley Forge from 1950-1953 during the Korean War. In 1954 Charlie married Claudia Caldwell and soon after began working for Garrett Freight Lines, joining the Teamster's Union. During their 25 year marriage they had three children. In 1980 Charlie married the love of his life Irene I. Andree and happily became father to her five wonderful children. He quickly came to adore them as much as his own three children and he and Irene created a wonderful family for us all. Together Charlie and Irene enjoyed a full and exciting life together. They built a gorgeous cabin in New Centerville, Idaho and we will always cherish the many happy and often humorous memories of our adventures in and around the cabin. There was always lots of four-wheeling, campfires, laughter, feeding wild animals and love shared at the cabin. Family gatherings were very important to Charlie and many were shared both at the cabin and at their Boise home. Charlie also got a great deal of enjoyment creating ornate and unique birdhouses, which he would inevitably give away to those he cared for. A few years later Charlie and Irene purchased a motor home and began enjoying a life of travel. They became members of the Good Sam's Club Boise Road Runners and traveled often. After years of driving places, they later choose flying to their destinations. One of Charlie's favorite places was Las Vegas. Although a long time non-smoker and never a drinker, he loved playing the penny slots and watching the Vegas shows. He was always fascinated by the Cirque du Soleil performances. Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years Irene Cartwright, his daughter Marleen Kingsley and her husband Micheal Kingsley, his son Charles Anthony Cartwright, his son William Kent Cartwright, his step-children Marilyn Naillon and her husband Johnny Naillon, Steve Andree and his wife Barbara, Ron Andree and his wife Karen, Bonnie McDonald, Roger Andree and his wife Shirley. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. We would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Marks and Dr. Bollinger for their wonderful care and compassion. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Luke's Home Care & Hospice. 190 E. Bannock Street, Boise, 10 83712 Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 8, 2011 at Cloverdale Funeral Home in Boise, ID. Burial will follow at 2:00pm at Idaho State Veteran Cemetery. Dear Irene,
I remember the good times we shared as fellow Good Sam travelers. I, too, am without my dear one, Al. We enjoyed the friendships of that special group. You had that neat Fifth Wheel with the tip-out, and we would gather there for 'talking' and sharing coffee.
I live near My daughter and husband in an independent senior living place in Puyallup, Wa. It is a good way to live at age 93.Have loving grandkids in Seattle, and see them often.
I pray that you will find peace and comfort as you cope with the difficult days ahead.
Love you, Louise Fuehrer
