Charles Farmer Obituary

Charles John & Norma Lea Farmer
May 9, 1923-Feb 28, 2014 - Oct 12, 1926-Mar 26, 2014
Charles John Farmer passed away on February 28, 2014 of natural causes. Less than a month later his loving wife, Norma Lea, followed on March 26, 2014.
Charlie was born on May 9, 1923. One of eight children, Charlie grew up in a farming family, the son of Kirk and Clara Farmer. He lived in Parma, Rupert, Kuna, Notus and Caldwell, Idaho and briefly in Berryville, Arkansas. He attended schools in the Caldwell area. Charlie proudly served our country in Japan following WWII. He purchased a farm in Kuna and farmed there with his family. In 1964, Charlie married Norma (Carter) Eskeldson and gained not only a wife, but a family of 3 children as well. He was a loving husband & father and will be dearly missed by his daughters, Ann Kershisnik and Joy Boswell. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alva; and brothers, Kirk Jr., Forrest and Burton. He is survived by his brothers, Dewey, Bob, and Bill.
Norma was born on October 12, 1926 in Colby, Kansas to Ellis and Viola Carter. She was one of four children. Norma attended schools in Nampa, Idaho. She worked as a telephone operator before marrying Ivan Eskeldson. After losing Ivan to cancer, Norma married Charlie and the two worked together farming in Kuna. Norma was active in PTA when her children were young and was an active member of the Kuna United Methodist Church until she and Charlie retired from farming. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Clara Mae and Dora; and brother, Jim. She is survived by her children, Terry, Ann and Joy.
During their retirement, Charlie and Norma were actively involved at Southwestern Idaho Senior Citizen's Recreation Association (SISCRA) for many years spending summers at camp working and enjoying the company of their many friends. They enjoyed camping, fishing and listening to music at camp.
For the past few years, Charlie and Norma have lived at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation-Canyon West. We are thankful for the kindness and loving care that they received from the staff while they lived there.
A graveside memorial service honoring them both will be held on Friday, June 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Kuna Cemetery, 1321 Boise St, Kuna, under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com

Charlie and Norma were our neighbors on Deer Flat road in Kuna from 1981 till they moved to Caldwell. I have never known better neighbors or rarely met more kind and caring people. They were wonderful folks and made my family's life richer for the blessing of having them next door.
God love them and keep their families safe here on earth. I remember Norma's delicious candy making and still have a candle stick Charlie turned on his lathe.
Fondly remembering them and thankful for the blessing and privilege of having them as neighbors.
