Boise, Idaho - Charles "Chuck" William Nicholson was born in Harrisburg, PA on November 6, 1938 to Robena Berenice Hess and Robert Francis Nicholson. He attended schools in Harrisburg, involved with sports and hanging out with his buddies. Chuck worked for the Post Office and the State of PA. As he got older he went to Penn State. Chuck looked forward to time with his grandparents and other family members.
He married Sandy Shambaugh (they later divorced). They had three wonderful children. Linda Hartshorn (Paul); Chuck Nicholson, Jr.; and Cathy Nicholson. They made the trip west settling in Corvallis, OR, where Chuck went to work in the early days of CH2M Hill, a consulting engineering company, that later moved their headquarters to Boise, ID. Chuck stayed with the company, retiring in 2004 after 35 years.
Chuck absolutely loved the outdoors, hunting for deer and elk or fishing lakes and rivers, plus other activities with family and friends. He traveled and explored Idaho from top to bottom – the Selways, Bitterroots to Challis and all of Owyhee County, where his mom, Robena and Stepdad, Leroy Reisser resided (they had moved west too). Chuck took Idaho to heart and called it his home.
Chuck leaves behind his children, his wife Karen; 3 great stepchildren, John Oster (Melba), Toni Oster and Laddie Oster; also 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; his Aunt Beatty; cousins, Deanna Berrier and Mary Ann Bittinger, plus other relatives. They will all miss him dearly and love him forever and always. He was preceded in death by his mom, stepdad, grandparents, and other relatives.
