Chris Kimball Obituary

Christopher Paul Kimball Sept. 12, 1960 to August 22, 2011 Born Sept. 12, 1960, in Grangeville, ID, died Aug. 22, 2011 in Pauling, NY. Chris came into the world only to be followed 5 minutes later by his identical twin brother, Ken. While growing up Chris enjoyed back packing, skiing, and camping. He loved the beautiful Idaho outdoors his entire life. Chris and his brother Ken attended schools in Boise, ID, graduating from Borah in 1977 at the age of 16; soon thereafter they entered the full time ministry of Jehovah's Witnesses. In October of 1983 they both were invited to serve as members at the Jehovah's Witnesses world headquarters in Brooklyn, NY, and attended the Eastside Congregation in Lower Manhattan. Not long after his twin brother returned to Boise to raise a family in 1993, Chris was transferred to the Watchtower Educational Center in Patterson, NY. It was here that he met Janet Sorensen, whom he married on October 30, 1994. Together they served at the Watchtower Educational Center until his death. He is survived by his wife Janet, his parents Mike and Patt Kimball, his twin brother, Ken Kimball and wife Kelly, his three sisters, Susan Dodge and husband Charlie, Sally Bright and husband Mike, and Micalah Kimball, his grandmother Veldora Lentz, and his nephew, Sam Kimball. Chris loved his aunts, uncles and cousins, often saying he felt they were more like extra parents and siblings. Chris will be remembered for his dedication to his God, Jehovah, and for his work of bearing witness to the Kingdom of God as man's only real hope for peace, security and health. In Dec. of 2006 Chris was operated on at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. The diagnosis was a stage 4 glioblastoma brain tumor, the average survival time being 58 weeks. Chris made it almost 58 months. He went back to Johns Hopkins Hospital for 9 more surgeries, many performed by amazing Dr. Quiñones to whom we are grateful. We understand why people speak of a "valiant battle against cancer." But it's over now. We are strengthened by the Bible's promise that Chris is simply "sleeping peacefully" and will soon awaken in full health in the earthly Paradise Jesus spoke of in Luke 23:43. His family is thankful they were able to be with Chris in his final weeks as he was cared for by wonderful doctors, nurses, attendants, and countless friends, as well as his loving wife Janet. A nicer, kinder and more thoughtful person than our Chris would be hard to find. We feel privileged and blessed to have had him for 50 years and can't wait to see him again soon. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at the Hillcrest Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, 9855 W. Amity Road, Boise, ID.

What can I say he was the most kindest, loving brother you can ever meet. Always helpful always there for you. I remember our home paint shop days working with Chris was a pleasure. He was caring considerate and very loving. It was a pleasure to be around Chris and his twin brother Ken. I will always remember him throughout my commuter days at bethel. What a privilege it was to work alongside such a wonderful servant of our loving God Jehovah. I can´t wait to see him again real soon and share all that we are going through right now and to share in the beautiful blessing that our loving father Jehovah has in store for us. It will be wonderful to welcome you back my brother and friend. My deepest condolences to your wife your family and friends. See you soon!!

I was shocked and saddened to hear about Chris. I will always remember him as a zealous, focused minister. His life may have been relatively short, but he used it fully in Jehovah's service and that is what no one will ever forget-especially Jehovah, God. My thoughts and prayers continue with his whole family.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Chris's passing. Growing up with him, he was a wonderful example of not only a spiritual person, but of a positive attitude. He and Janet hosted us at Patterson in 2006 and I am thankful to have had that opportunity. Out prayers go out to Janet ,Mike and Patt, and the entire family.

To all the Kimball family- I am so sorry for your loss. I can't think of Chris without thinking of his huge ear to ear smile and positive outlook on life. He had such an impact on my life, that the few years we were in the same congregation and the influence he (and Ken) had on my outlook on being a Witness, summer pioneering, regular pioneering. He will be missed. If I close my eyes I still see him singing "I love door to door" (to the tune of the Joan Jett song), and I smile. I can't wait to catch up with him again when Jehovah wakes him up. You all have my sypmathies.

Chris was a wonderful person and so much fun to be around. I first met Chris when he was 8 years old and it has been a joy to watch him grow and give his life to Jehovah. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and we can hardly wait to see him again soon! Love, Richard and Allyson Kousky
