Clark Dale Meek, Lt. Col, Ret Army (75), of Kuna, ID died August 1, 2014 at home surrounded by his family.
Clark was born in Gooding, Idaho to pioneers. He attended Gooding High school, lettering in sports and received a basketball scholarship to Idaho State University. He was commissioned through ROTC and later completed his Master's degree at University of New Hampshire.
He served in Europe, stateside, and two tours in Vietnam as a US Army officer. While in Germany he met the love of his life. He was a Field Artillery BTRY Commander in the Vietnam conflict. He was very proud that he did not lose any of his men under "his watch". Clark was an outstanding leader, whom received many military honors, including two Bronze stars. After active duty, Clark worked for the State of Idaho, Bureau of Disaster Services, retiring as Deputy State Director. His expertise was highly valued.
He was a family man and enjoyed many activities such as horseback riding, fly fishing, hunting and camping with family and friends. He was a gentle, wise, and good man who will be greatly missed by those that knew him. He lived a full and rewarding life.
He is survived by his wife, four daughters and their spouses, six grandchildren, and countless friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation to those that provided care, with a special thanks to Illaria Moore NP and the HBPC/VAMC. A public committal service with full military honors will be held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2014.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Clark's "Hoss" ISU Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, 310 South Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220-5706.
