Donna Cox Obituary

Donna Kaye Cox

August 29, 1944 - December 10, 2023

Meridian, Idaho - Donna was born to a farming family in Iowa City, Iowa, the youngest of 6 children of Floyd and Helen Brothers.

At the age of six, she and the family moved west to Gresham Oregon a suburb of Portland. There she attended elementary and high school, met Jerry W. Cox, married at an early age and they raised their son Jerry L. Cox.

Donna was involved in gymnastics and tumbling in high school, was athletic and an avid motorcyclist, hiker, skier and golfer. Professionally she was engaged at an early age in banking and after retiring initially in 1987 resumed her career as a legal aid for a number of years culminating in her final retirement to her winter home in San Tan Valley, AZ in 2008.

She and Jerry sold their business in Boise in 2006 and traveled extensively nationally and internationally; Europe, South America, New Zealand and Mexico. She especially loved to cruise, making several trips to the Caribbean.

Donna was preceded in death by her mother and father Helene and Floyd, brothers Jack and Gary and sister Jean. She is survived by brothers Floyd Jr, Raedean, husband Jerry, son Jerry, grandsons Derek and Christoper and great granddaughters Emmy and Luca.

Donna passed peacefully in hospice care after a very brief bout with terminal bone cancer. She was in hospice care near her beloved Arizona home.

Husband Jerry scheduled Life Celebrations in each of their resident communities they had enjoyed with friends thru their joint careers: Meridian, ID., San Tan Valley, AZ., Clarkston, Wa. and Gresham, Or.

Donna detailed in her will " No Funeral, a potluck with friends and Fun, Fun, Fun!" She wished to be cremated and her ashes spread at Mt. Hood outside Gresham. Her wishes were met.

She was a loving wife for 62 years and a cherished Mother , Grandmother and Great Grandmother.

She is sorely missed.

Donna was part of a group of golfing ladies that played a different course around the valley twice a month. We were quite a boisterous group, 16-20 of us and even though Donna was pretty quiet, I think she enjoyed our antics. We certainly enjoyed having her around. Was shocked to hear about her passing. I extend my deepest sympathy to her family. Deb Sanders
