Doris Weybright Obituary

Doris Weybright
February 22, 1923 - October 6, 2022
Meridian, Idaho -
Doris departed this life on October 6, 2022 at home in Meridian, Idaho. She passed away peacefully, in her sleep, after a faithful, friend-filled, and fruitful life, pretty much tuckered out at age 99.5.
Doris was born on Bankson Road in Oil City, Pennsylvania on Feb. 22, 1923. Her family moved to Texas where Doris started driving at age 11 and graduated from Big Spring High School at age 16. She attended McMurry College in Abilene, lived briefly in Utah, Ohio, and in New York City, before rejoining her family in Boulder, Colorado. She (finally) graduated from the University of Colorado in June 1953 and married Marvin Weybright that December at First Methodist Church.
Doris and Marv lived in Boulder, California, and Denver, and settled in Broomfield (CO) in 1957. Forty-two years and two daughters later, they moved to Boulder and then in 2009 to Idaho to be near Marv's family. Marv passed away in 2015.
Doris and Marv were active in Broomfield United Methodist Church, where they formed good and life-long friendships over potlucks, bridge, campouts, and picnics. The friendships continued and were increased when they moved to First Presbyterian Church of Boulder.
Doris was a freelance feature writer for the Denver Post, and the city council reporter for the Broomfield Star, for which she wrote a history of Broomfield. She was a teacher's aide, a secretary, and an administrative assistant in her later years for ACT, CU, and NOAA. Doris produced the newsletter for practically every organization she joined.
Doris was an athlete all her life. She won local tennis championships, swam 50 miles one summer, and she and Marv played a lot of golf, "allowing" their daughters to carry the golf bags and wash the golf balls. She walked four 15-minute miles a day, and finished 10 Bolder Boulder 10Ks, the last one at age 80, accompanied by her 6-year-old grandson.
Doris and Marv loved to travel, taking their daughters to 49 of the 50 states (sorry, Alaska). Doris planned complicated and interesting road trips without benefit of internet. The family camped all across the country, locally with friends, and at "Oleo Acres: The Cheap Spread" (their mountain getaway).
Doris enjoyed cards and board games (son-in-law: "She's an assassin!"), and rooted for the CU Buffs and the Denver Broncos. She could call a game better than most men.
Doris will be remembered (as you can guess) for her sense of humor, her loyalty to and enjoyment of family and friends, her interest in politics and current events, her love of the English language, and her faithfulness to God. Her oft-quoted verse from Philippians (Don't be anxious. Pray. Give thanks.), united with her expectation of change, let her meet what came her way with grace and confidence.
Doris is survived by her daughters Patty (Glenn) Rebne (Washington and Oregon), and Janet Weybright (Idaho), and a grandson, Brody Rebne (Washington).
A memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held at Boise Funeral Home on November 12 at 11:00 am. Marv's and Doris's ashes will be interred next summer in Boulder at Mountain View Cemetery; there will be a brief service and a reception following. Details will be available from Patty or Janet.

I am sorry that I will be out of town on Nov. 12th and will be unable to attend the service for Doris. I recall some long conversations with her that proved her wit and knowledge of the world. Later I enjoyed the "Mom Stories" that Janet shared with us. Thank you for sharing you mom with us.

Doris was a gem! Always proper, but she was also a ready fountain of clever zingers to surprise us and make us laugh. She lived her life well, better than many of us. May you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends, but especially in the knowledge that she belongs to our Lord and is with Him even now.

I always felt welcomed & loved by your mom. Her sense of humor held out to the very end. She will be missed, until we meet again at the feet of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Hugs to the whole family!

What an inspirational life! I remember going on one of those golfing trips with my best friend Pat and collecting tees! And camping at Oleo Acres.
