So very sorry to hear of Senor Jenks' passing. He touched our lives with his wit and laughter in Spanish class at West. My sister (Linda Hoffman) in 1964-1965 and me in 1968-1969. We both remember him fondly. RIP good sir. Prayers to the family.

I taught with senor jenks for most of the 31 years he was also there. Although he taught Spanish and I spoke in algebra, I recognized his dedication to his profession, and his love and dedication to his students. I tried to emulate his writing backwards on the board, but couldn't match his style! He was a wonderful man. RIP Senor.

Senor Jenks was my Spanish teacher at West Junior High in ? 1990. Similar to the comment already posted, I too remember how he used to write backwards on the chalkboard. His favorite phrase was "Solamente en espanol, senor" when I would try to speak in English during class.
Both my brothers also went through his class and we all thought he was a great guy.
He will be remembered fondly.

How we love Uncle Elmo! His sweet smile, soft spoken comments, how he would light up whenever he looked at Ruth was all so wonderful. His great example of service to his Heavenly Father and to his family and friends is something that will stay with us forever. More importantly, we always felt such great love from him for us. He always has a kind comment or observation to share that made you feel like you were so wonderful. We will make miss his fun sense of humor, being able to observe how he adored Ruth and his kids...everything about him! Until we meet again-

Our deepest sympathy to the family of your loved
one, Elmo. My oldest brother (James Hunt) went through school with Elmo and graduated in 1950, from Pocatello High School, with him. We graduated from PHS with Leon and Leola, knowing them quite well through our school years. We did on occasion see Elmo, when he was at the Taco Bell Arena
taking tickets for different events. He was a very warm, personable person and we had a nice conversation with him about our memories of growing up in Pocatello. Our thoughts and prayers to all and may God Bless you at this sad time of loss. May Elmo rest in peace.

Mr. Jenks was my Spanish teacher at West JHS in 1968. He did his best to have us all learn the language and understand some of the culture. And then that summer he taught three of us how to drive, in a gutsy move on his part. I'll forever remember him telling one of the students to stay closer to the center line because those car would move. He was one of the most patient and understanding teachers I had.
RIP Mr. Jenks

I had Senor Jenks as my Spanish teacher at West Jr High for 2 years back in the late 60's and my daughter had him for Spanish at West some 25 years later. Always enjoyed his class and teaching style. He was a classic. My condolences to the family.

I will have many wonderful memories of him as my Spanish teacher at West in the 1990's. His methods were wonderful and make me chuckle to this day, like his ability to turn and face the class and be able to write backwards on the chalkboard so he could keep an eye on us! You've touched a lot of lives, thank you for your years of teaching and wisdom. RIP Sir!
