Gail Ann Makley lived a joyous life. She died unexpectedly in her sleep at home on June 23, 2017.
She is survived by her husband, Dan; three children: David Makley, Mark Makley, and Ali Capurro; sisters: Frances Hetherton and Jodi Hughes; brother, Terry Hughes; and fifteen grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, Patrick and Connie Hughes and sister, Patty Funk.
Gail was born June 26, 1946 in Hibbing, Minnesota. She was raised in South Lake Tahoe, California, lived in Fresno, California, Gardnerville, Nevada, and, since 2004, Boise, Idaho. She married Dan, her high school sweetheart, February 19, 1966. Gail had a ready smile, made friends easily, and was happiest in the company of family or friends. She loved helping young people. She volunteered and worked in child care at Marian Pritchett High School for pregnant and parenting teens and at Life's Kitchen, giving troubled teens skills to gain employment in the restaurant business.
She was active in the Catholic Church, teaching catechism, participating in Our Lady of the Rosary Church's Martha and Mary Group, the Environment Committee, and praying at weekly Eucharistic Adoration. Gail loved hosting Christmas Eve pizza parties, babysitting her grandchildren, gardening, and sitting in her backyard with her sister Jodi, Dan, and other family or friends. Gail will be especially remembered for her generosity and her buoyant spirit.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, June 29 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 1500 E. Wright St., Boise with a Rosary at 10 AM and Mass at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Marian Pritchett School, 1617 N. 24th Street, Boise, or St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, 3217 W. Overland Road, Boise.
