Boise, Idaho - Gary Edward Davidson, age 79, died August 1, 2021. He was born November 2, 1941 in Emmett, Idaho, and Emmett remained a special place to Gary throughout his life. Gary was the second of six children. He married Joan Mitchell in 1960 and their family grew to include their son Vince and daughter Kathy. Gary and Joan divorced, and Gary became lifelong friends with Pat, affectionately known as Limey. Gary's chosen career was in building maintenance, and he retired as a supervisor after a long stint at BSU.
Gary was a classic car enthusiast, and Corvettes were his passion. If you wanted to get Gary to talk, his main conversation starter was vehicles from his youth. Thanks to the Corvette Club, Gary had lots of conversations about cars, and that made him happy.
Gary was preceded in death by his former wife Joan, his loving daughter Kathy Akerstrom, brother Leroy Davidson, parents Melvin and Opal (Ulmer) Davidson, twin newborn brothers Marion and Marvin, as well as his four-legged companion Athol.
He is survived by sisters Sharon Glenn, Janice Garlock (Lee), brothers Don Davidson (Wilma) and Michael Davidson (Kim), son Vince Davidson (Tina), stepdaughter Colleen Amaya (Tony), grandchildren Katie Gustafson (Chris) and Kyle Davidson, Cheyenne Waisanen (Daniel), Austin Akerstrom (Tyra), and great-grandchildren Sophia and Stella Gustafson, Kyrain Waisanen, and Remington Akerstrom.
Gary has been an inspiration to all in our family. As family and friends knew, he struggled with health issues for years, and now he is free. He will be so missed, but on his next journey he will be reunited with loved ones. Love you to the moon and back. Thank you for the memories and blessings.
Graveside service will be held at the Emmett Cemetery on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 2pm.
