He was my great grandfather. I have some good memories about him with gardening and the jeep he had in the backyard. Wish he was still with us. Miss you Great Grandpa!

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew LaRue from my clinical rotation at the Boise VA. After being hired at that facility, I would continue to see LaRue roaming the halls with a big smile and handing out flowers whenever he had a bouquet. He always approached me with a big hug and wished me a "good day." I hoped to see him before the holidays, but came to find out he passed away...my heart dropped. I am sorry I didn't get to see him before he left, but my deepest condolences to his family. He was a caring soul and will be forever be remembered!

LaRue was at the VA Hospice with our father and he always, always had a smile and a hug for us each time we visited Dad. In fact, LaRue and I often had our own lengthy visits after I left Dad's room. What a magnificent man!

On the day Dad left hospice, LaRue and I hugged and cried and that sweet little man told me that he promised Dad he'd take good care of me. I cry even now at that tender memory and wish I'd have spent more time at LaRue's side, hearing of his many adventures and of his love for life.

This picture is LaRue saying his final good-bye to our father as Taps was played.

Farewell, my friend. Go rest high.
