Janice Skidmore Obituary

Janice Joy Skidmore
1960 - 2016
Jan Skidmore peacefully went from this life to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, June 23, 2016.
Jan was born to parents Steve and Mildred Eckstein, on March 4, 1960, in Portales, New Mexico. She attended Kilgore College and Eastern New Mexico University. She received a Master's degree from Boise State University. She married Kevin Skidmore on May 11, 1980. Jan loved to learn. She was an avid reader. Her favorite pastime was walking. Jan's life was centered in Jesus. The scripture that summarizes her life best is "To live is Christ, to die is gain." (Philippians 1:21) She loved and served her family, her friends, and her church family behind the scenes and in thoughtful, gracious ways. She loved working in Adult Basic Education at CWI.
She is survived by her husband - Kevin Skidmore, daughter - Jessica Skidmore, daughter - Tricia Meyer, son-in-law - Lynn Meyer, son - David Skidmore, grandson - Isaac Meyer, parents - Steve and Mildred Eckstein, brother - Brian Eckstein, and sister - Nan Fox.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Pam Joyner.
A celebration of her life will take place on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at 2:00 pm, at the Boise Church of Christ, 2000 N Eldorado, Boise, ID 83704.
In lieu of flowers, please send gifts to Voice of the Martyrs - http://www.persecution.com/ or the Biblical Studies Center – http://www.boisebsc.org.

Jan and I were best friends in Portales. We grew up together and went to schools. Her and I shared a love for reading and learning. We were very good friends in Junior High. I just learned about her passing at our 45th High School reunion. I am so sorry.

I am just now learning of my classmate's passing. This breaks my heart. Jan was always the sharpest pencil in the box and we could depend on her to be a moral compass to the student body. As her sister in Christ, I know of her joyful eternity but would have loved to visit with her on this earth to share life's ebbs & flows. My deepest sympathy.

We were so sad to read about Jan's passing. We left Portales in 1966 when she was six, but stayed in contact with Steve and Mildred. They are a great family and we have many published articles that were written by Steve and his dad. Our prayers are with her family and with all the extended family. Praying for strength and comfort for all of you! Love,

Dear Skidmore Family,

We love you all! Jan's life was a blessing to everyone. She is an example for all. We are sad and cry with you over the loss of your beloved Jan. We will keep praying day and night for your comfort and for the Lord to give you peace. Please know that even though we can't be there with you, we are still thinking of you and praying for you. This is how I remember Jan: she was like a bright, shining star. And everyone just wanted to reach out and get some of her light. May God bless you and send the Comforter to you.
