Jay Crouch Obituary

Jay Marshall Crouch, born Oct. 9, 1955 to Robert Crouch and Vernell Cox Crouch in Boise, Idaho, and passed away March 10, 2006 at his residence. Jay was very proud that he could be called a true Idaho native. From a young age Jay could make you laugh and be glad that you were his friend. He lived an active and full life up on the Boise bench as a child. He attended Jefferson grade school, South Junior High, and Borah High School. Later, he went to BSU and graduated in auto mechanics. Jay worked various jobs until he worked at ACHD for over 25 years. He had so many life long friendships, and made new ones daily. He had many laughable stories he loved to tell and retell. Starting from the first time he met Eddie Totten they loved to build rockets as kids, they called it the Estes Rocket Club, all the neighborhood came to watch the launch. Jay was a tall and lanky kid. He and his friends tore the roads up on their Honda mini bikes. He was known as Jay Knievel. As an adult he married Tammie Green in 1984. Together they built a wonderful life. They had three children Taylor, 19, Kelsey, 14, and Bryce, 9. Jay loved fishing, camping and swimming with his wife and kids. The Redskins and BSU football teams were revered in our house, and game day was just like Christmas. He loved watching the games and having snacks and Coors Light beer. Jay loved his family and they him, from tossing football with Bryce to Òmovie-atorÓ night with all his family. He loved family night every night. Taylor and Kelsey, his daughters, were well guarded from everything that would hurt his girls and Bryce his boy was being taught to be a good, just man like his dad. His friend Clark Lattimer said Jay was a man that you could trust with a handshake. No truer words were spoken. Jay was a family man, a wonderful husband, father and friend. Roy and Dorothy Green, his in-laws, loved him like a son. His sisters-in-law, Debbie (Sid) Fuller and Vickie (Mike) Crow always had a great time when we were all together. He felt proud of his nephews - Travis Raby (Sunshine) and Brandon Scott (Cindy), also niece, Amber Thomas, and Taylors fiancee Kelly O'Neal. Jay was preceded in death by his parents. We would also like to acknowledge all of his friends from childhood to present day, but there is not enough pages, but you know who you are so thank you all. So as you go into your new life ÒBig DaddyÓ know that you were loved, and that we will miss you. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2006, at Cloverdale Funeral Home. Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at Cloverdale Funeral Home.

My sister called me over the weekend and asked. "Was that our Jay"? We grew up a few blocks away from Jay's home on the bench. He was a great guy. He always had a smile and a twinkle in his eye. I am very sorry for his families loss.

Tammie and Kids,

I have so many fond memories of our families spending time together. One of the things I will miss greatly is the quiet time in the mornings camping. Jay and I would be the first ones up, making the fire and coffee. That hour of the morning when it was just Jay and I will never be the same. I love you all and I will be there in a minute if you need me.Love, Alison
