Jerine Smith Obituary

Jerine (Graybill) Smith
1955-2017
Jerine (Graybill) Smith was born March 31, 1955 to Lloyd Warren and Donna (Rappleye) Graybill nine minutes after her twin sister, Jenine, in Twin Falls, Idaho.
After living in Salt Lake City, Boise, and California, they returned to Twin Falls, where Jerine graduated high school in 1973. She met the love of her life, William Douglas "Doug" Smith, February 28, 1972. She married Doug April 7 the following year. They had 3 children, William "Bill" Lloyd Smith (Ellen Horras), Matthew Lee Smith (Linsey Rhead), and Ashley Jenine Smith. Jerine loved learning and teaching.
After graduating from the College of Southern Idaho (1984) and later Idaho State University (1992), she taught science at Kimberly High School until 2006, when she retired to help care for her parents in their final days. She obtained her Master's Degree in Curriculum Development from Lesley University in 2004. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2007. From then on she fiercely battled this insidious disease and lived more than ten years, eight of which were largely pain and cancer free.
Jerine loved life, especially camping, geology, nature, animals, and above all family. Jerine also loved teaching and always dreamed of returning to teaching and to writing middle school science textbooks.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister, Jenine (Jim) Jezek. She is survived by her brothers Denis (Vineta), Don (Jeri Lyn), Roy (Dixie), and her sister Jan (Jeff) Hochstrasser her three children, six grandchildren (McKenna Ashlyn, William "Mitchell", Pepper Jill, Hunter Matthew, Journey Jerine, and Canyon Matthew) and dozens of nieces and nephews.
She and Doug moved to Eagle, Idaho in 2010 to be close to their children and grandchildren. They spent countless hours playing with their grandchildren, riding bicycles on the greenbelt, and skiing Bogus Basin. The family would like to thank all the wonderful, dedicated staff at MISTI, St. Luke's Hospice Care, and especially Dr. John Gamboa and his fabulous staff at the Cancer Center of Idaho.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Great Sky Ward, 7200 Duncan Lane in Boise.

So sorry for the family and friends loss. I know it is difficult. I graduated with Jenine and Jerine in 1973. It is sad how we lose track of each other. I live in Meridian and didn't know she was just a few moments away from me. God Bless you all.

My prayers are with all of the family. I met Jerine through Jenine and she I am so glad I did. She is a wonderful person and I know that Jenine and her are having a wonderful reunion. I am a little jealous. :) May the peace and love of our Savior Jesus Christ be upon you all.
