He went to work for Western Electric in July 1952. He served time in Turkey with the Army and was honorably discharged in May of 1958. He returned to Boise and continued working for Western Electric. Jimmy met Sandra (with a little match-making from his Aunt) on August 31, 1961. He proposed on September 23rd and they were married on December 9, 1961. Their son Larry was born in 1965 and their daughter Lynette in 1968.
In 1970 Jimmy transferred to Mountain Bell Telephone. Mtn. Bell changed over to AT&T, where Jimmy retired in 2003.
In 1981, Jimmy was sponsored into Boise Elks Lodge #310 by a great friend, Daren McIntier. He quickly worked his way up the chain of officers to Exalted Ruler. He volunteered weekly for 9 years at the Idaho Elk's Rehab Hospital.
While he earned many acknowledgements for his commitment to the Elks, his biggest reward was the many friends he made as an Elk member.

He is survived by his wife Sandra, son Larry (Carla) Thompson, daughter Lynette (Ron) Phillips and 3 grandsons: Trevor (Libby) Phillips of Florida, Nick (Kenzie) Phillips of Washington, and Dakota Thompson of Boise. He is also survived by his great-granddaughter Lainey Jane Phillips of Florida. And we can't forget his faithful dog Miley.
He is also survived by many friends, especially Wayne Seavey for over 60 years.
Jimmy attended Grace church of Christ for the past 9 years.
