John Nordby Obituary

John Fitzgerald Nordby
February 5th. 1947 - February 7th. 2018
John Nordby, a resident of Meridian passed away from cancer on February 7th, 2018. He was born February 5th, 1947 to Clarence and Josephine Nordby at Lewiston, Idaho. He attended Catholic and public schools in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1965. He attended Treasure Valley Jr. College and the University of Idaho.
He married Barbara Scott June 21st 1969.
The majority of his working career was in retail. He owned and operated a True Value Hardware store in Grand Coulee, WA. He also worked as a controller for a building supply company in Bend, OR. He semi-retired in 2009 and spent his final working years as the business manager and controller for The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Southwest Idaho District Council.
Throughout his working career he was involved in Lions Club, Rotary Club, and Chamber of Commerce and served as board chairman of the community hospital in Grand Coulee, WA. John was an avid golfer and part of the civic leadership that developed Grand Coulee's Banks Lake Golf and Country Club.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, John Nordby of Meridian; daughter, Melissa Hunt, of Meridian and his grandson Ethan.
His funeral will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11 am Monday February 19th.

John was a soft spoken man, who was straight to the point of things, with much wisdom and knowledge, who if he didn't have the answer , he would definitely find it and knew what he was talking about , doing his best to help you understand it as well . He was a big part of the St. Vincent family and will be missed by many , My deepest condolences to his family and friends
