Leo Akers Obituary

Leo Vernon Akers

November 28, 1934 - December 1, 2024

Boise, Idaho - Leo Akers, 90, of Boise, ID passed away Dec 1, 2024 (Dementia). He passed at home under the loving care of his wife of 63 yrs, Annabella, with many thanks going to the wonderful care of Keystone Hospice.

Leo was born on a farm in Wann, OK to Ranger and Mary Akers & was the oldest of 4 siblings. He attended Oklahoma State and graduated with a BA in Business Administration from Sacramento State University. After College he met and married Annabella Jenovino ("a cute Rodeo Queen") He spent the next 12 years in Navy flying jets off the Kitty Hawk, navigating P5M's over the Russian coast out of Iwakuni, Japan, and also worked as supply officer on the Kitty Hawk during that period. He received Special Naval Accommodations Awards during his service. Off ship he became Dept Head of Naval Data Processing, supervising many civilians too.

He left the Navy as LCDR in 1969 with Honorable Discharge to help his wife who was dealing with health issues, and their 2 young sons Barrett and Bennett.

In 1974 he moved the family to Boise, ID to start Trim-Line Automotive, an auto accessories business with many wonderful employees, and in 1995 opened Boise West Car Wash with Full service, Detail shops and homemade Fudge! It was a fun business and he loved attending to the regular customers. Retired 2001.

Leo was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and he loved meeting people who liked to learn the Good News about Gods Kingdom, the Kingdom Jesus told us to pray for (Matt 6: 9,10. Matt 10:7). He firmly believed that Gods Kingdom is the only hope for mankind's problems and ultimately will end wars, crime & violence (Isa 2: 2-4), that death itself will end, and there will be a resurrection of lost loved ones (Rev 21: 3,4 John 5: 28,29). He was always amazed how Bible writers have intentionally left out God's Holy name, Jehovah, instead using titles like God or Lord more than 7000 times in most translations. He taught how Gods original purpose for mankind, living forever in a Paradise, was still God's intention and will be instituted by means of the Kingdom under Christ's rule. (Isa 65: 21-23. Isa 11: 6-9. Ps 37:29). Together Leo and Annabella had the opportunity to teach many about the Kingdom in Boise, Taipai Taiwan, Hong Kong and in China.

Annabella said she was so blessed to have Leo in her life for 63+ years. Leo loved his sons and their families, and he also loved hunting, fishing and hiking the deserts with family and "friends".

I send my love and condolences to the Akers families. I met the family some 40 years ago boy does it go fast. Leo was always soft spoken and seamed to be a gentle soul. I look forward to seeing him again in the paradise to come that Jesus spoke of. What a wonderful blessing that will truly be for all.

It's been nearly 50 years ago working for Don Erwin auto sales while going to college. Don had Leo and his sons install body side molding and pin stripes on almost every used car he sold. I remember how meticulous he was in the installation of his work whistling while he did such detailed work. Prayers are with the family at this time. Leo was a very soft spoken professional who took pride in doing a perfect job every time
