Lorraine Clements Obituary

Lorraine A. Clements 1923 - 2011 Lorraine A. Clements 88 of Emmett, Idaho, passed away into heaven on October 22, 2011, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Mom's final hours were spent at home surrounded by her large and loving family. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett. Interment will follow in the Emmett Cemetery. The family will receive friends and visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Chapel. Mom was born in McCall, Idaho on May 28, 1923 to William and Segrid Huttula. When she was only 6 months old her father died of a farming accident and her mother moved to California, remarried and had another family. She was raised in McCall by her grandparents, Gust and Sofia Leaf, who were some of the original Finnish homesteaders of Long Valley. She graduated from McCall High School in 1942. In 1943 she married Walter (Pete) Clements. This year they celebrated their 69th anniversary. Mom had an entrepreneurial spirit. She and Dad over the years were owners and partners in many businesses, farms, ranches, retail stores, real estate projects and insurance agencies including All Valley Agency, Inc. which has been operated by the Clements family for almost 30 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star for 62 years. She also was a member of several organizations among them; Cowbells, Finnish Relief Society and pinochle clubs. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Emmett for over 40 years. She was proud of her Finnish heritage and joked that she was the only pureblood of the family. Her passion in life was her family. She loved hosting family dinners, Christmas, baking, gardening, and animals. She had a great sense of humor and was always optimistic, kind, gentle, understanding and hard working. She enjoyed traveling and saw much of the world. She also loved camping and traveling in their motor home with the Holiday Ramblers Club. As much as she enjoyed traveling, she always looked forward to returning to her beautiful home in the Emmett Valley where they lived since 1954. Mom was the true matriarch of the Clements family. Our hearts will forever be broken by her passing, but it was her time to meet her Lord and end her suffering. She is survived by her husband, Walter (Pete) Clements; her 3 children, Anita and Dean Draper of Emmett, ID, Stan and Kathy Clements of Payette, ID and Janet and Peter Angleton of Boise, ID; her sisters Alice Rose of Oakdale, CA, Elsie Becker of Yuba City, CA and Gloria Nichols of Reno, NV; her brother-in-law, Wally Clements of Emmett, and sister-in-law, Marvella Palmer of Ocala, FL; 11 grandchildren, Debbie McGowan, Dennis Draper, Kevin Draper, Karen Kirk, Diane Marchant, Todd Clements, Judy Clements, Monica Angleton, Carmen Angleton, Sophia Angleton and Nicholas Angleton; 12 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, a grandchild and a great grandchild. Special thanks to Dr. Karl Schulthiss and staff at St. Alphonsus Cancer Care Center for the wonderful care Mom received for several years and to Pastor Al Cinnamon for his spiritual guidance and strength, he provided Mom and the Family during the difficult time.

I was sorry to read of Lorraine's passing but happy to know that she is now where we all want to be--- in the awesome presence of our wonderful Savior. I am thankful I was able to see her when I came to Emmett on vacation last year. We were both members of the Emmett Cancer Support Group. She was a very special lady and will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time. May God bless you. Donna Tippett Cumberland, Rhode Island
