Margaret Eileen Grieser-Woehler left this world on June 11 to be with her heavenly father. She was welcomed by those who preceded her in death; her husband, Harold William Woehler, three sons; Larry Wayne Woehler, Lindle Lee Woehler, and Ricky William Woehler, her daughter; Cheryl Eunice Goss, two son-in-laws: Virgil A. Goss and Clinton Keith Blacker, two great-grandchildren; Stephanie Marie Woehler and Nicole Blacker.
She leaves behind one sister, Isa (& Bud Pavelka of Valentine, NE), three daughters; Marilyn Fowler (Jerry of Emmett, ID), Ardis Fugate (Ronald of Pierce, ID), and Vicki Woehler, two sons; Dennis Woehler (& Wilda of Kamiah, ID) and Frank Woehler (& Cheryl of Emmett, ID), 14 grandchildren; Timothy Woehler, Laurie Woehler, Ernest Blacker, Terri Siems, Clintana Elsberry, Ronnie Fugate, Danny Fugate, Frank Woehler Jr., Nikki Zimmerman, William Woehler, Annie Woehler, Mirenda Brown, Lora Money, and Janese Widener, 19 great-grandchildren; Jennifer Woehler, Danielle Woehler, Jared Blacker, Austin Blacker, Hunter Siems, Taylor Siems, Keagan Elsberry, Kassedy Elsberry, Hayden Reeder, Kayla Widener, Kasey Money, Kyle Money, Ethan Fugate, Tucker Woehler, William Woehler Jr., Sophie Woehler, Brewer Woehler, Skyler Woehler, Colby Jesse, and three step-grandchildren; Greg Wilkens, Tasha Abell, and Bailey Brown and one step-grandchild; Jenny Adams.
Margaret was born in Crookston, NE on 10/27/1922 to Gygetty and Elmer Grieser. She graduated from Crookston High School in 1940 where she was a member of Glee Club and played multiple musical instruments including the piano, the accordion, and the harmonica. She loved gospel music and old time country music- especially Hank Williams, and later on, Garth Brooks.
She married Harold Woehler on 10/06/1943 in Valentine, Nebraska. They lived in Nebraska and South Dakota - at one time, living on an Indian reservation with her first five small children with no running water or electricity. They moved to Emmett, Idaho in 1959 with all nine of their children.
Margaret had a hard life and she worked hard with Harold to provide for her children. She worked at Ore-Ida Foods for a number of years until she was injured in an accident on her way home one night and her best friend was killed.
Later, Margaret worked at Stokely Van Camps in Emmett, Idaho and the entire family picked fruit in the Emmett valley to provide school clothes for the children.
In the 1970's, they purchased a place on the Old Emmett Highway and set up a small cow milking operation and raised beef. She always had a large, annual garden, growing all kinds of vegetables. She grew a lot of the family's food. Margaret loved all kinds of flowers and she loved working in her garden and flower beds.
Margaret loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, and she attended the First Baptist Church of Emmett, ID. She sang in the choir for a time and she was baptized on 3/15/1992- later, it was difficult for her to climb stairs and she worshiped the Lord at her home.
Serenity Living became her home in May, 2005, and she resided there until her death- first in the Assisted Living section, and later in the Memory Care section. The staff and management adored her and her spunk - you couldn't tell her what she was going to do, you asked her if she was ready to do it!
She was an opinionated woman who held her tongue - she rarely said negative thoughts - unless you got her riled up! She was stubborn in her philosophies and she would not budge, she had an awesome sense of humor, and she loved playing with her grandchildren - even at 91 she was teasing and joking with them.
NBA basketball was her thrill sport. She loved Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. But, later, she was the #1 fan of Lebron James and the Miami Heat. Margaret said Lebron was a great player, not a ball hog, and he was a team player. If the game was on, you better be quiet and let her enjoy it!
Margaret (Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma) will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves a lasting legacy of love, duty, hard work, and tolerance to those she touched. No one will be lost finding joys to remember her by - she will live forever in our hearts. Rest in peace, Momma, there is no pain where you are- only serenity and the reuniting with your lost loved ones.
Special thanks to the doctor and nurses at Walter Knox Memorial Hospital in Emmett. Their compassion and professionalism is greatly appreciated and they helped us through an extremely difficult time.
A graveside service will be held at the Emmett Cemetery on Saturday, June 14th at 9:00 AM to celebrate her life.
