Margarette Rosendahl Obituary

Margarette A. Gage (Neyman) Rosendahl 1924-2009 Margarette Ailene Rosendahl of Boise passed away on Saturday Aug. 22, 2009. She was born Sept 5, 1924 in Hill City, Kan. to Harry and Hannah Gage. Margarette was the oldest of three children with a brother Russell Gage (Lois) of Star and a sister Barbara Vargason (Kenneth) of Boise. She was born in Kansas because her mother Hannah wanted to be with her mother for the birth, but Margarette's childhood was spent in the Dietrich and Jerome area. Margarette married Curtis D Neyman in Los Angeles where he was in the Navy, but they later made their home in Boise. They had two daughters Kathleen Irish and Peggy Wise Gregory. They were later divorced but remained close friends until his death. Her daughters were very important to her. When she was divorced and had to raise them herself she went to work as a waitress. She worked at the Royal restaurant in Boise for many years and enjoyed her customers. She had a close relationship with the people that worked with her at the Royal and still attended the get togethers that they had. In order to supplement her income she provided room and board for students attending Links School of Business and they were able to care for her girls so she could work swing shifts. She was a very hard working woman. Margarette married Robert Rosendahl in 1961. They enjoyed their time together fishing, camping and being with their many friends until his death in 1995.Together they built Rosendahl Shoe Repair on Franklin Rd in Boise. When the business became too much to handle they sold it and opened a shop (Bobs Boot & Shoe Repair) in Mountain Home. After a few years they moved back to Boise and opened a shoe repair on Ustick in Boise. They enjoyed working together in their business and being of service to people. They made many friends over the years. After Robert passed away Margarette was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm. She had surgery but it affected her short term memory, so she was never the same. From that time on she could not live alone. Margarette was a very talented woman, a wonderful cook (which she loved), seamstress and painter. She has left her family with many beautiful hand painted china pieces that will be enjoyed for generations. She is survived by two daughters Kathleen Irish of Boise and Peggy Wise Gregory of Meridian. Grandchildren, Valerie Alley (McCall) Jessica Sherer (Boise) Kristin Sherer (San Diego) Robert (Erica) Wise, Boise, Richard (Joy) Wise Nampa, Tyson (Janelle) Wise Boise and great-grandchildren, Branden Jenkins, Wyatt Wise, Elliott and Harrison Wise. Thank you Mom for all you have done for us and teaching us to be strong. We love you! You will be in our hearts forever. You are now set free! A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 29 at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel.
