Nancy Corbett Obituary

Nancy Bowden Corbett Nancy Bowden Corbett, age 77, of Boise, Idaho died Tuesday morning, Aug. 28, 2007. We hope she's finally having a blast with her dearest and best friend, Jean Jackson; her father, Carl Bowden (a Rhodes Scholar); her mother, Laura "Pat" Bowden and her fun-loving brother, Britt Bowden. Living in Reno is her sister, Mary Bowden Simon. Mom came from an incredible and memorable family, one that embraced life and insisted everyone else come along for the ride! Nancy led a fascinating life. She was a show stopper! From the moment she was "the first child born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1930" around 12:20 a.m. on Jan. 1st, fanfare surrounded her. Besides her sweet nature, graceful mannerisms and love for socializing, what really set her apart was her jaw-dropping beauty. She modeled around Boise during her school years (North Junior High/Boise High 1947) and then in Hawaii. She later adorned the cover of Spiegel magazine and was noted as the first model from Idaho to reveal her belly button! She not only gave us some of the most stunning black and whites from her modeling years, she also worked at the White House for Idaho's Senator Budge around 1950. Nancy lived in Hawaii in the early 50's (before it was a state) where she had a daughter, Laura Bowden (now living in San Diego). After this chapter, she moved to Hollywood and spent some time being the secretary for none other than - Alfred Hitchcock! (She called herself his "blood typist"!). Later that decade she moved to San Francisco when jazz was being redefined by talents such as Dave Brubeck. Then she married, I was born (Lisa Corbett, Boise) and her exciting life settled down. I hope, after all of these years, she's carefree, smiling and laughing with grandma over Uncle Britt's hysterical stories again! That would be heaven for her! And I have no doubt that's exactly where she is right now ... We all miss and love you very much.

Hello Lisa, You may not remember me, but I knew your mother when she worked for Senator Budge in Washing ton D.C. in the '50's, and I was about 12. She was wonderful to me, looking back, such a free spirit, long before anyone KNEW a free spirit. My love goes out to you. I am Deborah Nelson (Block)'s mother, from Boise High. Love, Sharon
