Apparently this is one of thousands of emails for Nick. mahalo to all
of you that already have done so.
My favorite memory of Nick was when I took out my brand new 29'er for
my first real ride. I did fine on the uphill with our group of
mountain bikers. It was my first real ride and we made it uphill just
great and Nick always stayed back with the slowest rider. Nick always
stayed back with the newbies even when he could have raced down the
foothills. On the way downhill my brakes weren't working properly,
they kept engaging and then letting loose. I was terrified. The rest
of the group made it downhill and waited at least 20 minutes for us
because Nick and I were so far behind. My testimony about Nick is
that he stayed with me during my really scary ride downhill while so
many others bombed down. He made me feel at ease and I remember I got
a bit of a standing ovation for making it down the hill. I could have
walked down with my bike (he didn't know I was having that much break
trouble) he just stayed right behind me and helped me through it.
Nick stayed with me, encouraged me and guess what. I made it. That
is what he was all about; commit is the rule to mountain biking, even
if you are the slowest one in the group. I am officially the slowest
one that was in that group, and he waited for me to make sure I was
safe. I will never forget Nick for that. Stick to life and commit
through the rough parts.
Nick has set an example for me to be a better person. I will never
forget what he did for me, which was so small to him but so important
for me, and I hope to do the same for just one other person in my
lifetime.
Ahui Ho (Hawaiian for 'until we meet again friend')
and Mahalo (thank you) Nick.
I think I saw some Kukui nuts on your lei and you deserve them Uncle
Nick; you taught me more than you could know.

I was extremely saddened to hear the news of Nick's passing. He was a very nice young man and a definte asset to Associated Taxpayers of Idaho. He will be missed by all.

I will miss the ornery Nick I remember from Vallivue High School.
I was surprised to hear that someone so young could pass away so quickly.
I will miss him dearly and wish to send my condolences to his family, friends and all who were touched by him.
God's blessing to all of you.

While attending BSU, Nick worked for us as a stagehand at the Pavilion. He will be remembered as a great and cheerful person.
We will miss him! But never forget him.

Hello All... my name is Sandee; my husband, Erik, and I were the EMS (emergency medical service) crew who volunteered to follow behind the tour group of Cycle Idaho riders this past weekend. I would first like to offer our sincere condolences to Nick's family and friends. We would like you all to know Erik and I reached Nick within just a few minutes of the time we last spoke with him during a rest period and the time we heard we had a rider down. I would like to assure everyone that every possible means, knowledge and training went into helping Nick. There were many people involved, including a bystander, 2 Cycle Idaho riders, 4 additional EMT's from Placerville Ambulance, 3 from Idaho City Ambulance, Idaho City police officer and St Alphonsus’s Life Flight Crew from McCall. Nick was treated with the utmost care and respect. We want to let everyone know how sorry we are with for your loss.
(Erik’s additional comment)
I just want to add one additional comment about our experience with Nick; Just a few moments prior to being notified of Nick’s collapse, Nick was riding with seven other participants when a jovial comment was made about his pink helmet. Nick’s response was that he always wanted to stand out from the crowd just a bit and that he was definitely “manly” enough to wear it. It brought quite a giggle the group.
Again, you have our deepest condolences.
