Olga Bennett Obituary

Olga Bennett
1949 - 2017
"Many kinds of hallelujahs do exist." --Leonard Cohen
Olga Bennett of Boise, ID was born in Eagle Pass, Texas on May 11, 1949 to Juan C. and Petra C. Davila. As a child, Olga labored in farm fields alongside her parents and 7 siblings, following the annual crop cycles from southern Texas up through California, across Oregon and Washington, and back down through the Midwest. The family eventually settled in the quiet rural community of Ontario, OR where Olga attended middle school and graduated from Ontario High. She went on to earn a professional certificate from ITT Tech and soon after went to work as an administrative specialist at Boise Cascade. After nearly 10 years there, Olga moved on to work at Hewlett-Packard until her retirement more than 20 years later.
Olga radiated beauty, strength, and grace in everything she did, whether it was aiding her brother through his long battle with leukemia, caring for her parents as they aged, volunteering to teach Sunday school at Sacred Heart Church, hosting epic family barbeques, power walking the Race to Robie Creek, or ziplining with her husband in the jungle outside Puerto Vallarta. Olga's generosity truly knew no bounds: she gave respite to those who were ailing; she gave time and attention to those who were lonely; she gave hope and inspiration to those who felt despair. And she gave, always, with faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these was her love. Olga devoted herself utterly to her husband, children, and most especially to her grandchildren, whom she adored with unwavering tenderness.
Olga died in her home on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 after a nearly 2-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Norris Lee Bennett of Boise, ID; her daughters Siskanna Naynaha of Los Angeles, CA and Amy L. Anderson of Hailey, ID; her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Jackie Bennett of Yorktown, VA; her grandchildren, James J. Camara, Storm Anderson, Amelia Anderson, Danielle Bennett, Joaquín Camara-Naynaha, and Esperanza Naynaha; her siblings, Juanita Anderson, Angela Davila, Rafael Davila, Oscar Davila, Joe Davila, Roland Davila, and Arturo Davila; and numerous nieces and nephews. Giving of herself to the end, Olga chose to donate her body to medical science; no funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to St. Luke's Mountain States Tumor Institute (MSTI), C/O St. Luke's Health Foundation, 190 East Bannock Street, Boise, ID 83712.
