Percival Wesche Obituary

06/14/1912 11/17/2006 Percival Adellon Wesche was born in Ashland Wis. on June 14, 1912 to Wilmer and Emma Wesche. He was the 7th of eight children, having six brothers and one sister. He was reared on a farm in Moquah where they raised sheep, ran a sawmill and the local General Store as well as the Post Office. During the school year the family resided in Ashland where Percival attended the Ashland public schools and graduated from Ashland High School in 1930. He then attended Taylor University in Upland, Ind. where he met Marjorie MacKellar. Percival and Marjorie were married on June 25, 1939. Percival was the pastor of the Lowell, Indiana Church of the Nazarene and then the Hammond, Ind. Nazarene Church. While pastoring the church in Hammond, Percival pursued graduate work at the University of Chicago. In the fall of 1945 he was called to teach at Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, Ill. It was during this time Percival and Marjorie adopted their daughter, Joy. In 1951 Percival and Marjorie moved to Oklahoma City so he could attend the University of Oklahoma as a full time graduate student. While attending the University he pastored a Presbyterian church and worked as a graduate assistant. He received his Phd from the University in 1952. Their daughter, Jody, was born during this time. They next moved to Wilmore, Ky. where Percival taught in Asbury Theological Seminary. While there he worked on research for his doctoral dissertation. In 1954 the family moved to Nampa where Percival taught at Northwest Nazarene College until his retirement. During this time he also spent time teaching at the British Isles Nazarene College in Manchester England and at the Caribbean Nazarene College in Trinidad. He is survived by two daughters, Joy Martinez, of Vancouver Wash.:, Jody Fullmer and her husband David Fullmer of Nampa Idaho; six grandchildren, Robert Prior, Sara Prior, Eric Prior and John Martinez of Vancouver, Wash.; Kayleigh Wesche and Emmalee Wesche of Nampa and four great-grandchildren, all from Vancouver area. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie and daughter, Adell. The family wants to thank all the people who took such good care of him while he was at Nampa Care Center as well as the people from Hospice. A memorial service will be held on Dec. 16 at 11:00 at the Brandt Center located on the Northwest Nazarene University, 623 Holly Street. The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Wesche Scholarship Fund at Northwest Nazarene University.
