Richard Moore Obituary

Richard L. Moore
December 30, 1930 ~ June 6, 2016
Richard (Dick) L. Moore, age 85, died from natural causes at his home on Monday, June 6, 2016, in Meridian, Idaho. Dick was born in Boise, Idaho on December 30, 1930 to Warren and Viola Moore. He was raised in Meridian and graduated from Meridian High School in 1948. He attended the University of Idaho from 1948 to 1952 and was an active member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. After U of I, Dick attended Dental School at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in San Francisco, CA, graduating in 1956. While in dental school, he met our mother, Barbara West, and they were married in December 1954. After graduating from dental school, Dick joined the Navy and was stationed with his family in Barstow, California.
Following his service in the Navy, Dick opened his first dental practice in Willits, California and later in Boise, Idaho in 1963.
Many of his patients fondly remembered him as "The Whistling Dentist". Dick quit practicing dentistry in 1972. He worked at Delta Dental Plan of Idaho until 1982, and then joined Waddell and Reed in 1983 as a Financial Consultant, working there until his retirement.
In his younger years, Dick enjoyed camping, boating, and hunting with his family and friends. In his later years, he frequently met "the regulars" for coffee at the Express Cafe, played cards at the La Playa Club House and never missed his daily cocktail hour.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his parents; his brother, Bob Moore; his son-in-law, Bill Cridlebaugh; and his grandson, Darry Schab.
Dick is survived by his children, Dana (Stephanie) Moore, Vicki Cridlebaugh, Debbie (Lance) Whittaker, and Rich (Jill) Moore. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
An open house will be held in Dad's honor on Sunday, September 4, 2016 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM at La Playa Manor Club House, 350 E Carmel Dr., Meridian, ID 83646. Drop by at your convenience to share your stories and memories of Dad. In lieu of flowers or gift, please consider your attendance as your gift to his family.
