Robyn Greer Obituary

Robyn Elise
1955 ~ 2015
Robyn Elise Greer, a longtime Boise resident, was born December 10, 1955, in Nyssa, Oregon, the third child and first daughter of John Robert Greer and Ardith Jane Greer (Roberts). Robyn battled a rare cancer with tremendous courage and dignity for three months, until a massive stroke took the fight from her on August 15, 2015. She died peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2015, with her dear friend Mike Lanier at her side.
Robyn graduated from Boise High School in 1974, and earned her Bachelor's degree and her MBA from Boise State University. She worked for Hewlett Packard in Boise for many years, and along with several trips to the Far East, she was able to live and work abroad for several months, in Germany and Italy. Robyn was determined to retire early, and she achieved that goal, retiring at 52.
Robyn had a passion for travel, and she traveled extensively during her retirement - to the Oregon coast, the East Coast, New England, across Canada, a road trip to South Dakota, and to Spain. Last winter she enjoyed her first "Snow Bird" season in Arizona. She was thrilled to be able to see the Broncos win the Fiesta Bowl in person.
Robyn was involved in many activities throughout her life. Most recently she volunteered with The Assistance League of Boise. Robyn also provided weekly trivia games to the residents of Willow Park Senior Living Center. She was a proud member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority at Boise State, and maintained close relationships with many of her sorority sisters until her death. Many of those sisters, along with Assistance League, Willow Park, Hewlett Packard and other friends joined her family in providing a constant, comforting presence at Robyn's hospital bedside following her stroke.
Robyn was very artistic, a trait she inherited from her mother. She enjoyed many creative hobbies, including different kinds of handwork, using those beautiful, elegant hands of hers. She was an avid reader and movie buff. Robyn began reading at the age of 4 and was never far from a book. She loved music, and was an accomplished pianist. She was a great organizer, and always made people aware of upcoming events and organized groups to attend them, especially for one of her other great loves, plays and other live theatre events.
Robyn was preceded in death by her father; her sister, Cheryl Tate; her nephew, Brian Greer; and her beloved four-legged companion, Mac. She is survived by her mother; her brothers, Shawn Greer, Kelly Greer, Timothy Tate (Pamela), and Jeremy Tate (Jennifer); sisters, Cynthia Geary (Bruce) and Carol Kozloski (Nicholas); nephews, Zachary Geary, Daniel Heed, Brady Greer, Brandon Crowell, Drake Oviatt and Rowan Tate; and nieces, Megan Wardle, Monica Burgeson (Grant) and Georgia Tate. She leaves behind countless friends and relatives who will miss her deeply. Robyn was our daughter, our sister, our friend. She is gone far too young and far too soon.
Cremation services were conducted by Summers Funeral Home (Boise). A celebration of Robyn's life will take place at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 6200 N. Garrrett, Garden City, on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 2 PM. Contributions in Robyn's memory may be made to The Assistance League of Boise. To honor her giving spirit, take a young person to lunch and listen to their dreams.
"The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience." Eleanor Roosevelt
