Ruth Reithmayr Obituary

Ruth Reithmayr
1916 ~ 2014
Ruth Reithmayr, 98, of Boise, Idaho, went to be with the Lord and reunite with parents, brothers and sisters on July 4, 2014.
Our loving mother, Ruth Agnes Bennett Reithmayr, came into this world on June 5, 1916. She was the fourth of seven children born to Andrew Sylvester and Jane Foster Bennett. She grew up in Brooklyn, New York, attending St. Saviour's Academy Grade School and graduating from Manual High School in 1934.
On New Year's Eve, she met Kurt Reithmayr, who would become her husband. After a long-distance romance, she moved to Boise and they were married on May 29, 1938. This union was blessed with four children. They would later divorce. She was employed at C. C. Anderson Department store as a bookkeeper and accountant. She later joined First Federal Savings and Loan as a bank teller at their Orchard Street branch. She worked her way up to branch manager, becoming the very first woman promoted to manager at First Federal. As a single mom, Ruth was very aware of family needs and as manager she always tried to accommodate the family needs of her employees.
Mom loved telling stories of her summer vacations with her family at the lake in New Jersey. Every year she created similar memories for us by planning special trips to McCall and outings to Lucy Peak to swim, picnic, and fish. Family was very important to Mom. She was there for most births, weddings, birthdays, and graduations. In times of trouble, you could count on her for encouragement and help however she could. Mom was truly an inspiration to all of us!
Ruth was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. Her faith was her strength. She loved playing bridge and was a member of Sojourners Club for many years. She was an active member of the St. Alphonsus Hospital Women's Auxiliary and volunteered for many years at the Morrison Center.
She is survived by two sons, Kurt (Ellen) Reithmayr of Thousand Oaks, California and Kenneth (Cleo) Reithmayr of Kennewick, Washington; two daughters, Jean (Reed) Nate and Mary Reithmayr of Boise. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Matthew, Bradley, Michele, and Ryan Reithmayr; Darrol, Wayne, Karen, and Sarah Reithmayr; Jeff, Steven, Brian, and Kristen Nate; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers (Robert, Andrew, and William), and three sisters (Helen, Rita, and Jeanette).
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 14, at 11:00 AM at Summers Funeral Home, Ustick Chapel, 3629 E Ustick Rd, Meridian.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff at First Choice Home Health & Hospice and the staff at The Bridge at Valley View for the compassion and care they gave to our mother during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth's memory to Wish Granters, 1365 N. Orchard St., #252, Boise, Idaho 83706.

Ruth Reithmayr was always a loving lady! She was my "boss" at First Federal Savings and Loan when she was promoted to Office Manager. She loved all the employees and customers too! Our office was a family that Ruth took care of, and we all loved and appreciated her wisdom!

What a classy lady. We crossed paths in so many industries, like her in the banking field etc. She was always happy to see you and I loved her deep voice and she wore her love of people in a smile to all. A true professional.
A true woman of faith. A life well lived. They don't make this kind of woman anymore. God Bless the family
