Sandra Daggett Obituary

Sandra L. Daggett
1942 - 2014
Sandra Lee Daggett, age 72, went to be with the Lord, Grand Parents, Mother, Father and Brother on Wednesday December 10, 2014. She fought cancer of the lungs and brain for eight long months but the cancer finally won. She passed peacefully at home with loving family members present. She was born in Las Vegas, NV on June 15, 1942 to William T. and Irene Sandlin. Her Dad worked for Union Pacific Railroad (UP). Back then Las Vegas was a very small town. It had few homes available, so they lived in a boxcar. Her Dad was transferred to Los Angeles and they moved to Inglewood, CA. She attended Catholic grade school, Inglewood High School and BYU. On 03/08/1947 her brother William T. Sandlin III was born. Darlene Stowasser moved to Inglewood to live with the Sandlins. On 07/19/1963 she married Dale Wilson and moved to Whittier, CA. Their twin sons, Shaun and Corbett, were born on 01/23/1967. In 1973 they decided to divorce and she went to work at UP in Los Angles as a secretary to the Freight Agent. At that time her mother, father and soon to be husband all worked at UP in Los Angles but in different departments. She and Willis (Bill) Daggett's first date was in August of 1973. Bill knew UP would soon transfer him, so he and Sandra married on March 23, 1974. On January 01, 1975 UP transferred them to Chicago, IL. Their two sons were in championship soccer playoff in CA, so the family finally moved to Chicago in March of 1975. In the summer of 1976 they took a belated honeymoon to the Caribbean. In November 1978 UP transferred Bill to an executive position in Omaha, NE. In January 1979 the family moved during a blinding snow/ice storm to Omaha. They lived in a rental home while their new house was being built. In 1983 they started buying rental property and other investments. They ended up owning 10 single family homes. While Bill worked at UP she took care of the rentals. When she wanted to buy things for the house she worked as a manager at McDonalds. Shaun and Corbett left Omaha in 1985 and ultimately wound up in CA. In 1985 Shaun changed his last name from Wilson to Daggett.
In 1986 Sandra and Bill got a chance to return to the field and UP transferred them to Boise, ID. They lived in a rental home while their new home in Eagle, ID was being built. When Bill went out of town on business Sandra traveled with him. In 1992 UP transferred Bill to Dallas, TX. UP offered them a buyout. They decided to take it, retire and remain in Eagle. For the first five years of their retirement, they lived for 9 months in a trailer in Omaha, NE while they fixed up their rentals and sold them. Sandra was a loving outgoing person that could carry on a conversation with anyone. She loved her flower beds, fish pond, beach, waterfalls, making jewelry, her swimming pool, BSU football and basketball, Thanksgiving/Christmas decorations, friends and family. She loved to travel, especially aboard Holland America. Her and Bill spent 3 weeks touring Italy, 4 weeks touring Alaska, 4 weeks in Hawaii and 4 weeks touring the South Pacific. They spent 3 weeks going through the Panama Canal.Shaun and Heidi Daggett gave them 4 loving grandchildren—Justine Kozak (married to Joe Kozak), Jessica, Jared and Jenna. Sandra loved to spoil them and spent long hours on the telephone with them. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, Shaun's wife Cielo, Christian Sandlin, Joe Kozak, Russell Watson, Christian and Mike Jacobs and their children Joel and Julia and Annaliese and Jerry Krzyzanek and their children Katherine and Alexander. The family thanks the staff at Saint Alphonsus Cancer Center, Horizon Hospice and Cloverdale Funeral Home. There will be no funeral service as she will be cremated and wants a big party. The Celebration of Life Party will be held Thursday December 18 at 465 West Ashbourne Drive, Eagle, ID 83616 starting at 7:00 PM. The dress is casual. Her favorite color is purple. In lieu of flowers please donate to the cancer center of your choice.
