Bob & Kathy, Joyce & Bob, we are so saddened by Steve's passing. As I write this, I know how painful this is for all of you. Jim & I wanted to attend the funeral, but due to time constraints, we were unable to do so. Our family is all very saddened. You are all in our thoughts & prayers at this difficult time. I was very sad to hear of Steve's passing. I met him when the Zeitgeist was our backyard. The light that shone so brightly and continues has been a blessing. Even at this moment I feel the shining of a brilliant spirit.

I was so sad to read of Steve's passing. Sister Paulanne (at OLPH Church) gave me occasional updates on his condition. I'll never forgetr Steve...he was in one of my first classes at Hoffman School when I was a young teacher. But the Kustra family, and especially Steve, stood out. I'm so sorry. I'll think of him and remember him often.

The days without Steve so far have been hard as expected, but time will heal us all. The funeral services really made me proud, what a showing. Steve I promise you from here on out I will be a Cubs fan no matter how hard it is to do so. Cassy, Joyce, Bob, and Jen you are constantly on my mind also.

Dear Joyce and family,
I'm so saddened by this news. You all fought so hard for Steve through both cancer battles, and it feels so unfair that he didn't win. He was a shining light during his life, and if ever there was a person who followed his bliss, Steve was that guy. All my warmest wishes.

It is rare in life to meet someone so gifted with mind,spirit and heart...and even rarer when they share it with such selflessness. I will remember Steve for his ability to speak to everything from Ansel Adams to Frank Zappa...our spirited conversations of the merits of growing up in the Midwest, banter between our rival Cubs and Cardinals or the true value of dogs in general- to recall a few. As other have mentioned he will be missed by loving family and fiance', loyal friends and co-workers as well as casual acquaintances. Fare the well Steve knowing that there is a New Day Rising...

Steve will be profoundly missed by his legion of freinds, his army of fans, and his loving family. we were co-workers for a dozen years and band-mates in 3 bands. he was the nicest, most talented person I've ever met. just a force. San Francisco is a lesser place today without Steve Kustra in it.

It is true...Steve lived his life to the fullest...I am greatful that he was in the hands of the nurses and doctors as he passed. To me that means he was delivered to our Dear Lord with the dignity and grace...his blue eyes will always be the thing that I think of first.

We are so saddened to learn of Stephen's death. He was in the same class as our son Eric at Hoffman school in Glenview before our family moved to Hinsdale in 1983. We all remember Stephen as a young man full of promise, and from reading of his accomplishments and spirit, he lived a life of promise and hope. We send our love and sympathy.

Steve not only were you my cousin but you were a best friend. We were only a month apart in age and seemed to be joined by the hip growing up when we were together. When you would come to St Louis to stay at my house in the summer, those were some of the best times in my life, so much fun in fact we always said we would grow up and live next door to eachother. Steve the memories we made will be cherished in my heart forever. Family and love ones we will get through this hard time for that is what Steve would want, especially Joyce,Bob, Jennifer, and Cassy.
