Steven Webb Obituary

Steven Glenn Webb 1954 - 2012 Steven Glenn Webb, 58, was born April 11,1954, in Ironton, Missouri, and died at home in Boise, Idaho, on April 26, 2012, after a brief but well-fought battle with cancer. Because of his father's changing positions with the Job Corps, Steve was enrolled in at least 13 different schools before he graduated from high school in Ozark, Arkansas, in 1972. He met his wife-to-be, Gloria Lora, in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1978. He proposed marriage over a bucket of crawfish in Gloria's apartment kitchen. They married on a snowy January 6 of 1979 in New Knoxville, Ohio. Over the years, Steve remade himself professionally several times. He built fiberglass boats and then switched to bridge building and home construction. In his mid-30's he started working in the environmental field. In the late 90's he was hired as the first building inspector in Boise County. He accepted an offer from the City of Boise in October of 2000, using his building inspection skills again. Through more training and certification, he was able to become the Erosion Control Program Manager, a position he held until February of this year. Steve enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing, and believe it or not, cutting wood for the woodstove. Steve loved his wife and sons very much. He was happy to know his boys were headed in a good direction professionally, emotionally, and spiritually. He and Gloria were married for 33 years, and she survives. He is also survived by his two sons, Garrett and Jesse; his older sister, Janet Procell, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and his two younger brothers: Gary Webb of Forks, Washington, and Larry Webb of Van Buren, Arkansas. A service to honor Steve will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2012, in the cafeteria at East Junior High School at 5600 E. Warm Springs Ave. in Boise, Idaho. Friends, acquaintances, and co-workers have said that Steve had a good sense of humor and knew how to laugh at life. He also was generous to strangers, so in memory of Steve, feel free to commit a random act of kindness!

When I think of Steve Webb I think of a man who never had a bad day, always shared a smile and conversation, and often bought my coffee in the Starbucks line. He will be truly missed; we are all blessed for knowing him. And what a better way to honor him, random acts of kindness! That is most fitting for this wonderful soul! Gloria and boys, we are thinking of you all.
