Waldo Jordan Obituary

Waldo (Wally) Jordan
1930 ~ 2017
Waldo (Wally) Leelan Jordan, born February 10, 1930 in Hartville, Missouri, was an energetic and adventurous young man. In 1946, when he was 16, he moved to Caldwell, Idaho. The following year he began his career with Albertsons dipping ice cream cones in their third store. He held many positions with Albertsons in various locations before retiring as the Executive Vice President of Retail in 1989. Wally enjoyed telling stories about the exceptional Albertsons' employees and colleagues he had the pleasure of working with and how they strove to make their customers the happiest in the industry.
Wally was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He met his wife, Gaynelle, in 1965 and they were married for 52 exciting years. He was generous to a fault and garnered great pleasure sharing with others. Nobody loved gatherings with family, friends and colleagues more than Wally.
When he wasn't with family, friends, golfing or traveling, you could find him enjoying fine dining. He was the guy to go to if you needed a special place to eat – in locales all over the world. Somehow, he'd sniff out dining gems no matter where he traveled. Wally was a man larger than life and he will be greatly missed.
His family believes that they will be with Wally again in that wonderful place called Heaven. He knew that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior.

Private graveside services were held at Dry Creek Cemetery, Boise.

I am sorry that I was just informed of Wally's passing. I spent more that half my Albertson's life either working with or for Wally. I have truly lost a dear friend and a wonderful mentor. He will be missed.

Wayne and I have great memories of a few special boat trips with three boats, all people associated with Albertsons , Wally and Gay included. He introduced us to an after dinner treat, Sambuca with 5 coffee beans (just a happy side note). What a wonderful person who touched so many lives.

Condolences to you Gay.

Much Love,
Helen Willis

I really enjoyed the time I spent with Wally and when I built his home and one for his daughter, he was very fair to me and I will never forget when he invited me to Palm Springs for a German dinner he and his wife were fixing for 22 folks, one oven did not work and everyone ate and left at 8:30 pm and left the 3 of us with dishes until midnight! A great and generous man who loved his family

My wife and I knew Wally and Gay from their close friendship with my parents Frank and Kathy Reynolds. My first job when I was 16 was with Albertsons and Wally made it a point to come by when he was in Portland to say hello. Many years later when my parents and the Jordans lived in Palm Desert and I would visit from Tennessee it would a highlight of the trip to go see Wally and Gay. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Jordan family.
