Zachariah Haws Obituary

Zachariah Haws
1979 - 2015
Zachariah Haws, DDS of Kuna, Idaho, passed away unexpectedly from a work place accident in the late afternoon of Friday, November 6, 2015. During the past eight years, Dr. Haws has served many people through his clinic at Swan Falls Family Dentistry where he practiced with his business partner and wife, Dr. Anneliese Taylor Haws. Zach Haws has been a leader and generous supporter of youth sports programs—particularly baseball—in Kuna; and he has also served in the youth programs at his church. All who knew him remember his honest blue eyes and kind smile, his gentle voice and genuine love, his modest manner, and his many acts of quiet service. His strong hands showed he was a man of action who worked hard at everything he did. Zach was an avid outdoorsman—he loved nature untamed. He was devoted to backcountry skiing, backpacking, mountain biking, and canoeing. The White Clouds and Henry's Lake drew him back frequently. His art and adventures as a fly fisherman are legendary among those who knew him. He always had his music playing, in his office, in his car or in his ear buds, with his taste running to the Alternative genre. His life was centered on the principles of honesty and simplicity.
Zach was born March 25, 1979 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, the son of Marc and Karen Haws. He grew up in the Meridian area with a sister and four brothers. He was an excellent student. He was an Eagle Scout in an active scouting program. He was very involved in youth sports and Meridian High School baseball. Zach played baseball at the American Legion level and on the Ricks College team.
After graduating from Meridian High School in 1997, Zach attended Ricks, then went on an LDS mission to Finland. When he returned, he married Anneliese Taylor of Rexburg, Idaho in 2001. They moved to Ohio, where Zach finished college at Cleveland State University, then completed his doctoral program in dentistry at The Ohio State University with his wife and classmate, Anneliese Taylor. He tried to recruit everyone into his Ohio State Buckeyes fan club.
Anneliese is the love of his life. They fell in love before Zach's mission, and married in the Idaho Falls Temple shortly after he returned. After graduating from dental school together, they moved to Kuna and established Swan Falls Family Dentistry, where they practiced together. They have two wonderful children, Ty, age 11 and Bryton, age 8.
Zach is survived by: a large and loving family including his wife Anneliese; son Ty and daughter Bryton; parents Marc and Karen Haws; sister Monica Brutsman of Nampa; brothers and their spouses David and Kellie Haws of Boise; Josh and Maritza Haws of Kuna; Gabe and Kim Haws of Kuna; Drs. Luke and Bryn Taylor Haws—Bryn is sister to Anneliese—of Fairbanks, Alaska; parents-in-law Red and Marianna Taylor of Rexburg; brothers-in-law and spouses: Dr. Jim and Elisa Taylor of Idaho Falls; Judd and Becky Taylor of Layton, Utah; Josh Taylor of Boise; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts; and many, very close friends.
An outdoor community gathering and celebration in memory of Zach Haws will be held at the Kuna City Baseball Field in Kuna (next to the City Park) from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, November 12, 2015. All members of the community are invited. A brief eulogy will be held at 6:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Kuna Educational Foundation for the Swan Falls Dentistry Scholarship Fund.

I am so very sorry for your family's loss. I can not believe what I have just read. I am grateful that I just saw you and your lovely wife last year, which was the first time since you were in high school. Once again I am deeply sorry for your loss. I too have lost a daughter in 2009 at 25 years old. I know first had what your mom is going through. My husband calls it the, "club" that no one wants to be a member of. My heartfelt condolences go out to your family.

Dr. Haw the kindest soft spoken man I have met. Always asking about his plants in his office. You was a angel on earth.

A wonderful, wonderful radiant glow;
that lit up the room, as he would go.
Vibrant, vibrant light dancing kindness;
soothing comfort, for all to know.
We loved him so much, everyone;
and now, his time, Best Flower has come.
And I, in my chariot, shall humbly pray,
To be like him, like him as I go my way.
The best, most beautiful will always be;
a vision for all of us, in humility.
With love, Anneliese, a daughter, a son;
empower your hearts beautiful, now carry;
his light, radiant, where air you go.

I, too, want to add my condolences to the Haws Family and especially to his wife and children. My husband first started seeing Dr. Haws as a dentist shortly after he moved into the office next door and he always commented on what a straightforward and honest person that Dr. Haws was with his billing practices and dental work. His honesty and integrity speak volumes. When the rest of our family started going to his office he agreed to do orthodontic work for both myself and my son. He was kind, he cared about his patients individually, and he went out of his way to make sure that he would answer all of your questions. He was confident and competent in his work and you always felt like you were in good hands when you left his office. He also took a personal interest in your life which made him more endearing as a dentist. My son commented to me on one occasion that Dr. Haws was the "most Christ-like person he had ever met." He cared about what was important to my son even though he didn't know him that well. He will be greatly missed. Thank you for making an impact in our lives Dr. Haws!

We are heartbroken and stunned with this news. This earth has lost an amazing, kind, and beautiful person, and the Treasure Valley has lost its best dentist. Our family's deepest condolences and heartfelt thoughts/prayers go out to Anneliese, their kids, and the many family and friends. Though we would visit for dental care, we would always come away energized by Zach's zest for life and contagious energy. I always enjoyed sharing stories about fish, kids, or latest adventures. He is fondly remembered and greatly missed.

Dr. Haws is a wonderful person, husband and father. Dr Taylor is also a wonderful person and they were a fine example of a God serving marriage. Dr. Haws received many gifts from God, and he shared those gifts with everyone he came in contact with. His family will never forget Zachariah's Godly examples and they will carry them in there hearts for ever.

I feel such sorrow for your loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Anneliese. Dr. Haws was a true first class Dentist. I needed a root canal but was not financially able at the time to cover the cost and ask that he just pull it. He told me that he is more concerned about repairing the teeth rather than pulling them and found a way to help me out. Very good man and I don't know how many people I referred to see him. Very sorry for his loss and my thoughts and prayers will be with his family during this difficult time. God Bless!

I was working as a prison guard, and I broke a tooth during a training middle of the night drill. I had just moved to the area and didn't have a dentist. I found Dr Haws on Google and called him very late. He met me at his office first thing in the morning and I was completely impressed by his good nature. That was 6 years ago, and ever since then when someone mentions a dentist I have always said Dr Haws and Dr Taylor were the absolute best in the valley. Dr Haws will be missed.

Shock. That's what I am feeling right now. I never liked going to the dentist and was very picky about who I chose to be my dentist. He was only the second dentist I truly trusted to care for me and my family. I'm so sorry for the sudden sad loss of a great person to all he cared for and especially to those he loved. May God give them all the strength and support they deserve and need.
