Nicholas “Nick” Kasunic 1924-2016
91 of Massillon, died on Aug.26, 2016. He was born in Elton, Ohio, on Dec, 18, 1924, and was the son of the late John and Rosie Kasunic. He worked at Massillon Steel Castings and retired from MCA Sign Company. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy; and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the K of C, the D.A.V., the Croatian Club and the American Legion. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Kasunic.
Nick is survived by his wife, Betty (Knobb) Kasunic; daughters, Lisa (Brian) Spinden, Jana (Robert) Boak; and son, Nicholas John (Nancy) Kasunic all of Massillon. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, godchildren and granddogs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Barbara Catholic Church, with his pastor, Fr. Edward Gretchko and Fr. Brian Cline concelebrating the Mass. Burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. The family would like to thank the nursing staff and social workers at Community Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nick's name to either Community Hospice or St. Mary's Catholic Church.
