Curtis Purdy Obituary

Curtis Sanders Purdy, 81, of Carnesville, husband of Miriam Whitlow Purdy, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 30, 2007, at the Cobb Memorial Hospital, Royston, GA. Born August 18, 1926 in Franklin County, GA, he was the son of Irenus Segars and Cordie Purdy. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Janalu Crowe, Mary Purdy, and Dorothy York. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was associated with the insurance industry for over fifty years. He was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church and a former Deacon and a member of the Jack Gober Sunday School Class. He was a 50 year member of the Carnesville Masonic Lodge, Toccoa Chapter 21 of the Royal Arch Masons, E. L. McConnel Council # 40, Philemon Community # 30, Knights Templar, Yaarab Shrine Temple, Atlanta, GA; Toccoa Shrine Temple # 4 and Red Hill Chapter 417 Order of Easter Star, having served as a Past Patron, Post District Grand Deputy. He was also a member of the American Legion Post # 92. He is survived by: His wife: Miriam Whitlow Purdy Three Nieces: Kim Hudson, Susan Malemezian, and Kathy Whitlow Three Nephews: Hal York, Greg York, and Bart York Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 3, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cross Roads Baptist Church, in Carnesville, GA with Rev. Grady Jordan and Rev. C. Roy Smith officiating. Interment will be held at the Franklin Memorial Gardens. The family is at the home. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 2, from 3 until 5 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m. at Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville, GA.
