Earl D. "Sonny" Martin, Jr., 63, husband of Michelle H. Martin, died Friday, February 7, 2014 at his residence.
Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of Earl D. Martin, Sr. and the late Mildred Elizabeth Benge Martin. Mr. Martin served in the U.S. Army and was a retired warehouse distribution manager with the Army-Air Force Exchange Service. He was an avid golfer and was currently working at the Saluda Valley Golf Course. He was a fan of the University of Georgia Bulldogs. He was a beloved husband, father, son, and friend to all. He will be greatly missed and always remembered.
Survivors include his wife, Michelle Martin of the home; daughter, Jennifer Lauren Motzkus and husband, Andrew Peter Motzkus of Norfolk, VA; two sons, Conner Samuel Martin of the home and Matthew Eric Martin of Atlanta, GA; father, Earl D. Martin, Sr. of Anderson; and his brother, Ronald Lynn Martin and wife, Deanne Katherine Martin of Atlanta, GA.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2014 at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. Richard Brennan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.

Earl was the best friend I ever had and no one made me happier to be around. Earl left us too soon and I know we´ll get together again and enjoy a round of golf. Love you Earl.

I now live in Indianapolis area and I find it comforting that I am close to where Earl grew up. I don't think I will ever have a friend as kind and considerate as Earl was. He was more like a brother to me than a friend and someone I will always remember. I still find it hard to believe that Earl is no longer with us and wish his family the best going forward. Seven years ago was a day I will always remember and a day I wish would never have come. We all miss you Earl and I know you are at peace in heaven.

It's hard to believe that it has been six years since Earl passed. I still remember his smile and how he was always happy. I miss my friend and I know that one day we will be together again and that will be a great time for us. Rest in peace my friend and always know that you are missed by all who know and loved you.

I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of my cousin Sonny, I know he is with his mon--Aunt Mildred, his Aunt Libby and Uncle Jim and my Brother James Dixon up in heaven looking down on us and his wife and kids, My heart is breaking for Ronnie & Deanna and My Awesome Uncle Earl and Michell and kids. Earl was a dear friend of mine for almost 15 years. We met in Korea at the golf course and I found a lifelong friend. He will be greatly missed by all that have known and loved him. May he find peace with GOD in Heaven.

Sorry for your loss. I have known Earl when we were working together in Atlanta and continued when were in Waco and Dallas. Played basketball and golf several times and as a friend to the end
