Griffin Duncan Obituary
West Columbia, SC
Griffin Winn Duncan went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Born in Lawrenceville, Georgia, November 11, 1924, he was the son of the late Cora Freeman Duncan and Griffin Jasper Duncan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Katherine Duncan McCart and Dorothy Duncan Butler. Griff proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1943 to 1949. After an honorable discharge, he was a dedicated employee of Southern Bell for 41 years until his retirement. He was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church, organized in 1960.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Alice Hill Duncan; son, William H. "Bill" Duncan and his wife, Helen Bailey-Duncan, of Anderson, SC; grandchildren, Brittany, Tyler, Nicholas, Andrew and Caitlin of the home.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in West Columbia, SC. Pastor Robert Reeves will officiate. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia will be assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1201 Mohawk Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169.
